A 90 day report has no bearing on your extension of stay. Doing a 90 day report at the end of your one year will not extend it. You need to renew your extension of stay in the 30 days(or 45 perhaps) before it expires.

Far easier to get a tourist visa, 60 days on entry, which you can extend in Thailand by 30 days, or 60 days to visit your wife. If you do make it to Vietnam do it towards the end of the 60 days and then re-enter Thailand visa exempt for 30 days. If you were, for instance, in the UK and had a UK birth certificate then perhaps. But your passport is by far easier and what is needed in this case. If you were in the UK and had a Somalian birth certificate it would not help much.

If you are a national of the country in which you are applying then you send a copy of your passport photo page. You will already have sent it but nevertheless this is what is needed. If you are in the country otherwise, i.e. on a visa, then send a copy of that.

When did they actually receive your application in the UK? You can tell that as the very first thing they do is take your money, or you may have had an email from DHL tracking. They currently quote an average 6 week turnaround for a damaged passport renewal. From recent reports on here I'd expect it back in time.
