They (local district council) ask annually who (name) is living at each address and then if that person is not on the electoral register will write to them directly on that issue.
International roaming is not the same as data roaming. Unless International Roaming (calls and sms) is enabled you will not receive OTP's. and will not connect to Vodafone. In the past I did have AIS and IR was enabled by default, also for my wife's phone but that may not be the case these days (I now have True and had to request IR). Correct not to allow data roaming, that gets expensive unless a package is in place, but also it requires IR to be enabled.
You might try sending a message to AIS on Twitter. From a quick look it appears they do at least respond to customer service enquiries. Alternatively call +662-271-9000, that should be the same as the 1175 call centre. Or email at [email protected].
If you have the providers app on your phone try using it to chat with their customer support and see if they can re-activate your number and turn on international roaming. You ought to be able to add credit easily through the app (if it's anything like True). They will have your passport info on file and may we be willing/able to help, I recently activated roaming with True this way and found them extremely helpful, albeit the number had not expired but they still needed to verify passport, etc. to ensure it was me.
Works fine in a lot of places. And ought to be less of a problem in Thailand as it is one of the few places where smoking is still allowed/tolerated inside the bars, so stub out before leaving.
More importantly it needs data for Facebook, Line, Whatsapp, TikTok, etc. No self respecting female is going to isolate herself from that stuff surely?
Leaving data on will use some data all the time, although not necessarily a huge amount. If it costs money or not depends on the terms of the package she's on, i.e. unlimited, fixed volume per month, etc.
Banks might like them but can't insist on them because in a household only 1 person will have a council tax bill. Santander, for example, will accept a driving licence as proof of address (also as proof of ID).
When you apply for a new card the first thing you get is this email. As you can see all the card details are in the app and it can be used online immediately. When the card is received the only activation needed is for contactless payments, by making a single chip and PIN payment, but as you can add the new card details to Google pay, etc. before you get it that is hardly much of an issue.
You can easily turn on and off different payment types for the card to restrict it only to ATM withdrawals for instance, as well as limiting the maximum transaction values. Or freeze it at all times except when you want to use it. This does of course require that all these security features actually work, which is by no means certain.
You can certainly complete an application for one, I just went through a dummy to check. GBP10K in the bank needed, together with the other marriage related documents.
