Thailand 300 baht entry fee for tourists set to start in early 2023
Upnotover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Naturally not. It will be in the ticket price, as mentioned in the article, however "expats" will have to cough up; "This is because airlines are only able to recognise passenger information, such as nationality, and not the immigration status of a foreign national residing in Thailand." Of course the airline doesn't necessarily know the nationality of the passenger at the time of booking/payment (most, including TG, don't ask in my experience) so will either have to charge everyone the same and refund Thai's later or collect the money when they finally learn who they are carrying, neither seems workable. So perhaps all airlines will have to modify their booking systems to accommodate this. I can see a further delay coming.- 140 replies

Prepaid? Either way the AIS website seems to have many options https://www.ais.th/package/en/package_net_non_stop.html, for example;

It has nothing to do with the embassy, applications are received at VFS offices in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Look here for all the information needed; Overseas British passport applications – Apply for a passport – GOV.UK It is highly unlikely you will get your new passport by October, currently they estimate 11 weeks. You may need a trip to the UK to get sorted, or perhaps leave and re-enter on your Irish passport and do the same when the new British one shows up.

3 month o-visa by way of marriage
Upnotover replied to darbyman's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes, yes and yes. From the UK embassy website; Single Entry Visa will be valid for 3 months from the date of issue. You must enter Thailand within the validity of visa. However, the permitted length of stay is up to 90 days from the date of your arrival in Thailand. Please carefully note the immigration stamp in your passport to make sure that you do not overstay your visa. -
BKK arrival report
Upnotover replied to FalangTingTong's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Pity the poor sod (me) who's flying that route in December on OS. My only solace is in the fact that I managed to snag a pretty low fare for a return from London. -

Not so sure about that, although I think it is ignored/overlooked frequently. From the application form; Uncancelled can include expired passports if they have not been formally cancelled (corners cut, stamped cancelled, etc) by the issuing authority.

Why are avacados cheaper in UK than Thailand?
Upnotover replied to ESLTeacher1989's topic in International Food
Market forces. People in the UK are completely broke, guacamole is a very rare treat for most. -
There is no inheritance tax to pay on anything left to a spouse, unless different rules apply to a foreign spouse, albeit one married in the UK.

UK Passport Renewal New Blue Passports
Upnotover replied to prakhonchai nick's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Fortunately not, although perhaps there is a place in the chip for that. The old one neither, although it does contain an entry stamp for our honeymoon in Jamaica, distant memories now, both the trip and her. -
UK Passport Renewal New Blue Passports
Upnotover replied to prakhonchai nick's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Well here's my 2021 passport alongside my 1981 version. The colour is certainly blue and both are the same. The new one looks darker more so due to the grain of the cover than anything else I think, and ageing of course. -
Have you already done one of these trips? I seem to have been reading lists of towns for some time and am hoping soon to start seeing reports of what you have discovered. Or are you in a perpetual state of preparation?
