Thai Airways: 10 kg extra checked baggage for silver members?
Upnotover replied to lkn's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Use the Thai Airways app on your phone, easily shows your card and collected mileage. -
Thaivisa Connect? That stopped working some years ago, although the links are still here....https://aseannow.com/apps/

Got caught out by that at Christmas. First guard followed at a distance until we passed the somtam place, then started shouting, then radioed ahead to his oppo who then started waving his arms in a thou shall not pass manner. Unfortunately it was too late to stop us yards from the barrier which fortunately we could limbo under before proceeding for a nice lunch. Won't do it again though and returned the long way round. Someone needs to dig a tunnel. I can imagine they will install razor wire/spikes in the future.

Arriving on new passport
Upnotover replied to 10years's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I wouldn't worry for 1 second about immigration. It's not your concern if or how they "link" your new passport to your old one. And they won't transfer the overstay stamp to the new one either. Your bigger issue may be the airline, might be a good idea to call them when your new passport appears, or maybe their website will allow you to update the information. -

Upnotover replied to phetphet's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
6 months validity of his passport is worth £127.51/20 = £6.38. How much lower than that does it have to be to become cheap?- 23 replies

It makes life easy. Car/bike arrives, already knows where you are going, get in/on, arrive, get out/off. No change issues, no physical actions required at all. Use a card with a low transaction limit and its secure enough, no less so than a pocket of cash.

Yes. They are obliged to, and 99% likely they will do it online so no reason not to immediately give him a printour of the entry into the system.

I can certainly confirm that the iService app offers the option to extend the validity in 2 ways. Either "buy validity", THB 8.41 for 90 days for instance, or by topping up credit, Different amounts give different extension periods (I did mistakenly mention THB 50 for 90 days, actually it only in fact extends mine by 30). But whatever method is used, the validity can never exceed 90 days. I tested it a long time ago, bought 180 days for THB 14, result was extended from whatever it was, maybe 10 days, to 90, not 180. Queried it with True and they confirmed that my SIM (30 day Infinite Thailand) cannot ever have over 90 days validity. It is quite possible that not all tourist SIMS are created equal.

I use a Redmi Note 10 Pro which has the exact same options as above and works just fine in Thailand. Hard to imagine a newer/better model wouldn't have at least the same functionality. I also remember the "region dependent" statement in the specs when I bought it, reckon it's a standard Xiaomi cut and paste spec.

They do but when I went to try and top it up (balance is ฿0) I see a message "Unfortunately, you cant currently top up Bolt balance in your location if you have zero or positive balance". I have a card attached to the account but would prefer to use the balance if is was a working option. "but we're working on it", the message goes on to say.

I have the same and yes, the longest you can have validity is 90 days, but that resets every time you top up. So add 50 baht every 85 says or so and your good, And yes, it can be done easily online - use the True iService app on your phone and it's simple. I suspect a True shop could change the SIM and keep the same number and give you something valid for 12 months, was going to try but really its no issue to top up so haven't bothered as of yet.

RE: Requirements for Retirement Visa
Upnotover replied to ME100's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You're talking about an annual extension of stay. Replying to a post talking about the initial 90 day non-O visa. Different things with different requirements. -

Good news for you. No mention of TM30, certainly not needed as a document. However, if they check in their system or not is no known to me. -

Phuket simplifies visa extensions with new online system

The primary selling feature is that you have an appointment and are in and out in 45 minutes. That and it's pre-approved so ought not be issues with extra documents, etc. -
Phuket simplifies visa extensions with new online system
Upnotover replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
You apply online with VFS. The application is then handled at the office you select from this list, which you will then attend to submit hard copy paperwork and get the extension sricker in your passport. Did it myself yesterday at CW, no issues at all, they even re-did a couple of copies where mine were not to their liking (despite being "pre-approved") Bangkok Chiang Mai Chonburi (Pattaya) Koh Phangan Koh Samui Nonthaburi Pathum Thani Phuket Samut Prakan -

A multi-entry (1 year) non-O visa is not issued in Thailand. An extension of stay is, not the same animal. -
