Last time I took a cab from Pattaya to Bangkok I think I was lucky to get there in one piece. The driver was an absolute maniac. I've sworn that in future, if not driving myself, I'll use a big bus.

I was 63 when I first came here and for my first two years lived in Pattaya and Jomtien. I found it no problem at all using baht buses and walking. Even at going on 80, if I moved back into town I'd do the same without any problem. Baht buses are a cheap, trouble-free way of getting around. Occasionally when you do have a bit of a walk and you don't want to get sweaty, you can always grab a normal cab.

Similar to the "Hate Speech" laws springing up in several western countries. The moral of this story is to wait until after you leave the country before you start posting complaints about it online.

This is a little girl for heavens sake and if you have any kids of your own, you'll know that when a kid's got to go it's got to go. As someone already pointed out, you see Thais urinating by the side of the road almost on a daily basis. I even see them doing it on the track opposite my house! These are adults, not kids, so what's their excuse?

Thailand never seems to have any trouble returning foreign criminals to their country of origin. Why can't the UK do that with its incoming criminals. We can't get them to beat it even when we offer to pay and house them abroad.

Same as me. Lazada have wife's phone number, if not in, they phone her, she transfers funds and they leave package inside gate. My financial situation these days makes me very weary of giving out my credit card details.

When I finished my one year tour of active service in Borneo with the Brit Army in the early 1960s, there was only one place that us sex-starved squaddies were headed when our leave was due and that was here. That was in the days when Singapore was pretty wild too, so that should tell you something.

Yes. My ex wife was a doggy person and during our 17 year marriage, always insisted on keeping at least two dogs in the house. Every one of them was a pest in its own way, but to keep the peace I went along with it. Since our divorce in 2000, I've never owned another dog, nor have I regretted it. My Thai wife of the past 16 or so years isn't "doggy" either which makes for a happy marriage. However we still have to suffer the noise from idiots in our hamlet who let their animals wander around crapping everywhere and barking day and night. At least when I was a dog owner, I kept mine in check.

Grateful you show the stats which support your claim that Brits cause most of the problems here. I don't think the Thais would support you on that.

I've been carrying a stick and a packet of "doggy chews" with me on my daily walk for 17 years now and haven't been bitten. I may just have been lucky, but they seem genuinely cowed by the site of the stick. When I come across dogs which I know are friendly, I hide the stick as best I can and make a bit of a fuss of them. I've made friends with quite a few that used to be nasty by throwing them a couple of doggy chews. Some of them even eat out of my hand.

Didn't take long for the "blame Trump" post to appear.

Unfortunately cars and trucks are bigger than motorcycles and come off best. Also, if motorcyclists learned the highway code and didn't speed, overload their bikes or get psised, they'd be ok.

I quite like the absence of car horn noise in Thailand, the way that I drive, I never use the thing anyway. Don't even know if it works or not. Prefer it here to say Athens, Greece. I once went there for a holiday and returned my hire car after a couple of hours. Couldn't stand the constant noise of car horns, found it really stressful. Especially at lights. If you didn't pull away the split second they turned green, the whole queue behind you started beeping. Even walking around trying to appreciate the sights, you couldn't escape that constant honking of horns.

I was quoted 26,000 baht for similar treatment to a front tooth which was broken. Because I'm going on 80 yoa, I decided to live with the occasional pain and save myself the money. The days of me worrying about how I look cosmetically are long gone.

That's the first "If you don't like it here, you should go back to where you come from" of the day. Surprised it was so far into this thread. Still, you can always guarantee there'll be someone that'll utter it. Saying that, I think these six Thai guys acted like a pack of hyenas when they smell blood and should be treated severely when it's their turn in court.

Not so much the mindless water throwing because I tend to stay in over the period, but the loud bass-heavy music every evening jars me off.

Told my missus to throw me on the compost heap at the bottom of the garden to save herself a few bob. She looked at me absolutely disgusted. Thais don't joke about death. I know that she'll have a big expensive face-making ceremony with everyone invited that'll cost her a fortune. Up to her.

I agree. It was unique and interesting for a short while on my first Songkran 17 years back. My intro was my motorbike taxi driver and myself getting buckets of water full in the face on the way to the main Pattaya celebration. Ended up hating the festering thing by the time I'd managed to make my way back to Jomtien. Took me hours and was a miserable experience. Have been caught twice more in my time here, once when I went to pick up my daughter from Bang Saen and got stuck in the procession, the other time was when I went to Kanchanaburi to escape Pattaya Songkran and accidentally ended up in their bar district. Didn't realise it was so close to the war museum and cemetary.

A lady with sense. I'd join her if I could afford it.

Reading that raving, fanatical post just made me more of a Trump supporter than I was before. I'm not even American.
