I tried this and at first thought...oh yes..pleasant taste with a texture like liqueur but after a while I found it a bit sickly and gave it up. The Lao Khao most foreigners know is in a dark brown bottle with blue label and pull top. This is the one that tastes like turps. The newer ones with a screw top ( several brands ) in a green bottle have almost no taste and can be mixed with anything. Getting older I find 40 degrees a bit much so luckily there is a 30 degree version. Still gets you there without wrecking you. This is my current tipple which I mix with tomato juice and Worcester sauce to make a decent bloody mary. Only 60 baht a small bottle of an evening. I might get around to trying the Caballo but sounds like better sipped on the rocks without any mix and you are probably paying more just for the frosted bottle.

Russian Arrested in Phuket for Alleged Illegal Online Work
Denim replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Looks like a Russian soldiers front line summer kit. What amazes me about some of the arrests being made recently , including this one , is that there are actually tourists out there willing to pay silly money for stupid services . Like the Polish guy arrested for conducting mental health workshops. That one actually makes sense. If you are dumb enough to want such a service you probably need it. -
Thai Man Arrested for Attempted Sexual Assault at BTS Station

Yes. In her interview she says he was ' helping himself '. -
Cars are relatively cheap these days , can get an OK one for less than 100,000 then sell it on when you are done with it. Trick is to get the most popular and cheap to fix. A Toyota Vios or Yaris will be very reliable and won't break the bank. I have a 21 year old Vios and it never ceases to amaze me how it just keeps going and going with few repairs and only routine maintenance. When you buy at this level you don't even need to worry about depreciation.

Sad story. People fall through the cracks in society and become invisible until something bad happens. Hope she gets the help she obviously needs.- 14 replies

Brit vlogger moans about Hospital bill
Denim replied to proton's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Another loser. We must have a factory back in Slough knocking them out on a production line. Curiosity got the better of me so I checked out his channel. Good grief. Nurds like this make an excellent case for demonitizing youtube ASAP before generation Z ( zombie ) destroy the few brain cells they have left . The future is going to end up like Idiocracy -
Can anyone recommend me an alternative visa agent. I was gonna do it myself but everyone said use an agent , use an agent. Easy peasy. Only fools do it themselves. Nothing can go wrong....all above board. I am in real tis now.

This news will electrify Thermaes , beach road and the Marine bar . -
I don't think they do ' URGENT ' here in mai pen rai land. Sometime , later , never is the modus operandi. That or quick fix until the problem goes away by itself.

Bad mood because of no food - is that a medical condition?
Denim replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Health and Medicine
Well there are usually 2 veg with the sausage. Toad in the hole springs to mind. The OP should get a few Thai ready meals in that she can pop in the microwave. Pad Grapow or Khao pat boo on toast should do the trick. -
Extension cables for solar panels and lights
Denim replied to billd766's topic in The Electrical Forum
Tend to agree. Lights don't use that much power. If the OP has fluorescent lights indoors then simply changing to LED lighting will reduce power consumption and give brighter light. All our mains lights are now LED. What really consumes power are heating or cooling appliances like air con , kettles and irons. You can turn everything off in the house then stand by the electric meter and turn different things on. When you turn on the lights the disc in the meter barley moves. As soon as you turn on the air con or kettle it will visibly speed up. Where indoor solar lights are useful is when there is a power cut. When you buy solar lighting they always come with a remote to turn them on or off or adjust how long you want them today run. No wall switches needed. Having said that the best place to get the cables and advice you need is a specialist electric appliance shop. My local one is excellent. I just tell them what I want to do and they supply the correct equipment and draw a circuit plan for me as when I fitted a ceiling extractor fan in the bathroom. Even came home with me to show how to connect the first LED light. -
Get used to cocks crowing all over the place at all hours of the day , something I found irritating. Try to find out the most popular places for expat retirees then go somewhere else .

Fanny Adams here in Petchabun but a few clouds about. To water the garden or not , that is the question. If I water it....rain will follow. If I don't .....nothing. Not a sausage let alone rain. One thing I hate about the first heavy rain of the season is the hordes of Meng Mows that spring out of the ground in there millions and fly to the nearest light. They then shed there wings and indulge in promiscous sex all over the place , pulling trains on the window sills and any flat service. The following morning there are drifts of these critters all over the balcony and I have to get the garden blower out to give them their last <deleted> .When they come calling you have to close all windows and doors and pull the curtains or they get in to watch television with you and sup your beer.

Solution is simple. Don't chose to live where there are many foreigners. Find a quiet town elsewhere and enjoy the peace. Plenty to chose from.

Thai Chamber of Commerce Promotes 10 Provinces for Tourism

Good. We are not on ze list. -
Never had any problems but then both wife and I prefer quiet places where large groups don't tend to go. Won't even consider going anywhere where ' live music ' is promoted as an attraction. Can't see the pleasure in having my ears assaulted by dreadful noise.

Don't forget the proposal was also lauded and there was talk of making Thailand a hub of something or other .....then it was pronounced to be a misunderstanding because the brakes had failed.

Justice Sought: Thai Woman's Taxi Ride Ends at Wrong Airport
Denim replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Hi so entitlement much. Had she not been buried in her phone she would have quickly noticed the mistake. Plus would have helped to confirm her destination as soon as she got in the cab. But that would have involved talking to the cabbie , somebody way below her station , a thing she could not do as obviously so up herself. -
