Alas......Thailand is the only SE Asian country [even broader Asia] that hasn't adjusted and loosened up it's immigration/visa policies for the times. Applies to the tourists variety as well as the long-stay or resident type. None of the mounting bureaucracy and unnecessary suppressive schemes are truly unworthy.

All this whimsy chatter and rhetorical debate regarding free elections and change is rather moot, as the system here is traditionally geared by the steadfast manipulation of Ammat patronage, elite loyalty, high blessings/permission and military-inspired coups. That's all it's ever been about.......even during those brief eras of civilian government. No change, whatsoever, will ever come about until the traditional roots are severed completely. End of.
