I was having breakfast at around 8.30 am this morning. I was facing the rear window in my 4th floor condo when an enormous flame flashed across my eyes with an equally enormous explosion. So I looked out of the window and a major power cable was burning fiercely near the under cover car park at ground level. It didn't take long for 20 odd people to arrive on the scene with their cameras going non stop and of course the mandatory finger pointing. The bystanders didn't live in any of the condos as all the power was off, including the elevators. It took 15 minutes for the security to arrive with an extinguisher to put out the flames. Maybe 30-40 minutes after the explosion the PEA emergency crew arrived and total power was restored in about 40 minutes. Thanks guys for a job well done.

I know the area well. Photisan is rather narrow with double lines as you can see in the pic. Cars are parked either side which makes it almost impossible not to drive with some part over the double lines. Of course the speed of lunatics on motor bikes is a another major factor. I've given up walking along Soi Photisan to go to the market. I now prefer walking along Naklua Soi 27 and go to the market the back way. Both ways are 20 minutes from where I live. So now prefer the safest way.

Sorry mate my mistake. It's ARS and it gave them the full arse.

Firstly thanks for that info, I'll give Singha 89 a try. Where can Singha 89 be purchased in Pattaya, preferably not to far from the Naklua Road area.

I had an serious ant problem for several months, they were even in my bed. After trying several things I bought RS from Lazada. In the space of one hour the ants were gone and they haven't been since, going on 9 months ago.

Thaksin Labels Pheu Thai Dissolution Lawsuit ‘Baloney’

How can anyone prove that Thaksin is meddling in Thai politics. He can make demands in private which he probably does. The difference with Move Forward was that the MFP did everything in the open. -

May I add, where do you see these farangs carry on as you suggested. I drive every day and I walk 2 hours daily. Of course I see people lose their cool at times but it's only minimal. Also you must have extra good hearing as most cars here have the air con going with the windows closed. -

I haven't been back to Australia for 10 years, so maybe road rage is out of control there. If a road rage incident comes to a confrontation in Australia are concealed weapons used to cause grievous bodily harm? If the Polish guy did in fact die then the Thai brat would've been looking at a murder wrap. -

So what you're saying is the action the Thai guy took was appropriate for this situation. Using a concealed weapon that caused serious bodily harm is a very serious offense. That nullifies people playing the blame game -
I've been trying to reduce my weight. I was going ok for awhile cutting back on carbs by not eating bread, pasta, rice, crisps and spuds. I seem to have come to a dead end. The only other thing I can cut back on now is the grog. So does any body have any info in regards to carbs in Thai beers. I know that San Miguel light is preferred by many dieters but it's not exactly my desired taste.

Teenager Stabs Foreign Man in Road Rage Incident Near Pattaya

The BIB's had no interest as there would be nothing in it for them. In most countries when the cavalry arrived the cops would've arrested all of them. Taken them back to the cop shop, given them a right roughing up and in no time they would've squealed their guts out. Irrespective whether the farang wanted to fight or not is petty compared to a person carrying a concealed weapon and using it to cause serious bodily harm. If apprehended the perpetrator is looking at serious jail time. -

As I've visited Glasgow four times, the place where I was born, I know exactly what you're referring to. Thankfully my family migrated to Australia when I was 5 years old. -

I've been in their company up north when they're drinking in a huddle full of high octane booze and maybe drugs when a fight breaks out amongst themselves. It's normally the mob attacking one person. I must say though as I first went there 22 years ago they have always treated me ok. -
Even speed humps don't work here because the speed humps only cover half the round. So people swerve to the wrong side of the road at the last minute so they don't have to reduce speed. Another Thai safety innovation.

Several neighbouring countries compete with Thailand for foreign retirees
Mason45 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The thing that gets me is I've been living in Thailand for the past 24 years. I've been married for 22 of those years. I've been very supportive of my wife, her 2 daughters, one with a partner and her unemployable brother who's since gone to Buddha. I can handle that but what I can't handle is being treated like a tourist who's just using Thailand as a cheap holiday destination. When I go back to my house on the outskirts of Bangkok I can't believe the difference in the cost of living. It just goes to show that everyone living in Pattaya is treated like a tourist irrespective how long you've lived there, -

This issue has received far more discussion than it actually deserves. The key point is why was the teenager carrying a concealed weapon in the first place. If that's ok with some let's all get tooled up. -

That's not exactly right. I spend my time between Bangkok and Pattaya as I have properties in both places. In 22 years I've never heard a person even raise their voice let alone use a weapon in our large estate on the eastern side of Bangkok. I have 24 years experience in Pattaya and for many years it was very good. In recent years the scumbags have hit Pattaya from up north and they never change their ways when they're confronted with a bit of civility. Even my condo in Naklua, the Brits and most of the Germans have moved out and the uncivilized from up north are slowly moving in. If you think I'm a racist try living with them. -

A man hunt has been ordered, by the time the BIB's got their act together the perpetrator was already back where this behavior is normal. He'll be back in Pattaya when he considers the dust has settled. -

I could've had a similar situation a few days ago. I was driving along North Road when this idiot came flying up behind me on a motor bike. I stopped for the red light and he nearly ran straight up my a**e. He yelled out, my wife told me he said why did I stop. He had a savage look on his his face, so I just said chok dee and moved on. I first moved to Pattaya 24 years ago, I only drive my car when I go go to Bangkok or shop at a super market. Normally my transport is baht buses and walking. -

The problem is they come from up north, hit Pattaya and are totally out of their league. They're supposed to be looking for work, instead get on lao khao and yabba and become raving morons. I've been up north many times as my wife comes from there. She's the first to admit how careful people have to be if you upset them. The areas around Koh Talo have become very dangerous places. When the areas were first developed it was a very nice part of Pattaya. How things have changed in 20 years.
