Nonsense. I despise these filthy terrorists. Their acts were unforgivable. Never have I condoned, nor supported these pigs. I hate all forms of extremism. Hence, my dislike of Natanyahu and current policy. Unfortunately, criticism of Israeli policy is so forbidden, that is it construed as support for Hamas. That is just an ignorant trope. You know better.

Thailand’s Aging Population Challenges Economic Growth
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I know a couple who are quite wealthy, and they decided not to have children, instead they've amassed a world-class wine collection with a 4,000 bottle celler in their basement. They have a gorgeous home, they have great independence, and travel all over the world constantly pursuing their passion of diving with sharks at very exotic locations, they eat in the best restaurants and they basically said that all that was a reasonable trade-off for not having children. I totally agree. It is a far higher quality of life without kids, for some of us. Many are questioning bringing kids into the world, at this point in time. I get it and I love it. -

Some are predicting China's population to drop to 650 million by 2050, and I've seen some predictions that Thailand's population could drop to 35 million by 2060. -

Thailand’s Aging Population Challenges Economic Growth
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well I certainly understand the conventional wisdom, and certainly a lack of growth will induce a certain amount of pain on the part of the population. But big picture there are some enormous benefits for the planet. And humanity. I do not believe that the population growth that the planet is seen over the past hundred years can be sustained. The quality of life is dropping for most. -
Not for a nanosecond. I despise Hamas. Any criticism of Israel's action seems to result in an over simplified meme like "you support terrorism", if you don't agree with everything Israel does. Kind of a George Jr. sort of "there is no grey, you are either with us, or against us", Iraq war justification nonsense. WWII was slightly different. Hamas does not have concentration camps. They are evil, though. That we agree on. Sorry, not in the simplification camp. My soul is not bought and paid for.

Yes. And regressive, non-visionary, self entitled, and true bottom of the barrel types. -

I second that, though it will never happen. Too many addicts, and too much govt. support. It is such a filthy habit. I never understood it. -

I sure hope I am still around as the population declines. Unfortunately, there are still 20 counties in Africa, which are desperately defying the trend. All of them Muslim. -

An excellent outcome for society. Discounting the lack of ambition, that comes with smoking too often. -

I agree the new breeds are very strong. But only very weak minds experience damage from it. -
War is a very degrading act, and I think it's safe to say that these kind of offenses have taken place throughout the course of history, and still take place on a regular basis. Though I am sure many soldiers behave in a noble and righteous fashion, there are likely many who have no moral compass whatsoever, and simply do as they please. What about the IDF? Any crimes committed on their side, besides genocide?

Thailand’s Aging Population Challenges Economic Growth
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I really never understood the concept of economic growth, and why it's so important. So what if an economy shrinks? So what if you don't have economic growth? And this is partly due to incredibly smart and incredibly sensible people deciding not to have children at this stage in the planets evolution. Or having only one child. I completely agree with them, I've made that the same great decision myself. It's all good. It's great that society is at a point where we can make that choice If you have a lower population you don't need as much economic growth, it takes the strain off of so many elements of society and on so many levels shrinking population is a great thing for the planet. So I say may the shrinking continue and may the contraction continue. Sure some jobs will be lost but the overall benefits will be huge. -

He has participated in two incredibly corrupt and foul administrations in a row, and has helped to move the nation backwards by a decade or more. He deserves great honor. -

Pot should be legal worldwide. It harms nobody, unless you count poor memory and lack of ambition as great offenses against the nation. Illegal by who's definition? A corrupt, illegal government that is completely out of step with a changing world? Pot does little harm to anyone. The biggest risk is the the user will lose his ambition. Compared to alcohol the detriment to society is minuscule. The only reason why ganga legalization will be reversed in Thailand is likely due to the fact that legalization would makes the police franchises less valuable. That is it. It ends there. This has nothing whatsoever to do with morality or character development. Quite the contrary. And to lump a pot smoker into the same category as a heroin addict is just plain old ridiculous and ignorant of the facts. I would agree that it lowers the level of a person's ambition, if used alot. And it does slow down the minds of some. To say it makes a person stupid, makes me question your own level of intelligence, not to mention how judgmental and narrow minded, it makes you seem. I know plenty of brilliant people who smoke, and it has not slowed them down. To the contrary, alot of highly intelligent people use herb to slow down their brains, create some perspective, alter their perception and boost their creativity. Speaking from experience, there is little about ganga that is harmful, as long as it does not become a daily habit. I used to smoke occasionally. It was delightful, and did not make me stupid. It did make me funnier, and enhanced my life on several levels. Dancing, sex, skiing, music, movies, and many other activities seemed more enjoyable. I consider alcohol to be infinitely more toxic to the body and mind. Not to mention society. Yet, it is legal. Like many things, moderate use can be enjoyable and relaxing for many. And from a medicinal point of view, it is astonishing. My mother smoked. She had severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the spine. She was in alot of chronic pain. It helped her alot. And my guess is it was far better for her health and mind, than pain killers.- 106 replies

I didn't say it was impossible if you are willing to pay a "foreigner fine". A percentage of them will simply quote a far higher price.

Tourists behaving badly: Locals protest for better respect
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thailand is learning the hard way, that quantity over quality is never a good thing. And they are also seeing that complete and total refusal to look within, take responsibility, and address the problems that plagued the nation prior to covid, means lower end tourism. Affluent and rich tourists are far less tolerant of nonsense. They don't have to be. Too many other options.
