If Gen Z is any indication of what future generations are going to be like I suspect the species won't last very long, it'll get at the point where a flu will take out a 12-year-old, the weakness level will be that great. Two days of pain and suffering and their life wains.

In this day and age of extreme woke agendas, I doubt if these men are even allowed to venture into the fun zones. After all sex is a terrible thing, it results in all kinds of perversion, and it's just not healthy for young men to have sex. Sex is very very bad. Especially the no strings attached kind of sex. Totally immoral. And America is a highly moral nation, led by ememplary leaders.

Thailand aims to become Southeast Asia’s data centre hub
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Just more hot air from the do-nothing men who refuse to take action and just sit in an office all day collecting a salary and making this stuff up. Thailand can't even establish the ability to create solid state drives and therefore the world is moving away from Thailand as a manufacturer of hard drives. Yet they want to become a high-tech data center. I don't think so, dream on little men, that's all you seem to be able to do. All talk and no action makes Somchai and Sretta very dull boys. -
Personally, I despise PC. And social justice authoritarianism. I think it represents alot of what is wrong with contemporary culture, and especially America today. It is a major form of weakness, when you allow yourself to be easily offended, and take everything personally. Granted, there are things that can be perceived as offensive, but allowing yourself to be offended by tiny little things people say and do is a bit much! But, the people who are offended daily, by things others say, are just weak, and would benefit by growing thicker skin. Life can be rough and caustic at times, and for those of us who have grown thick skin, it is like water off a ducks back. No big deal, at all. Think what you want to think. It just does not mean anything to those with self esteem, and a sense of who and what they are. Granted, these are just my opinions, and some will take offense to them. LOL. The US is by far the most tolerant country in the world when it comes to the whole trans, non-binary, amorosexual, decide whatever you want today, if it fits mentality. No other country is as loose, driftless, and as silly as the US. The notion that political correctness has “gone mad” is familiar to anyone who follows even vaguely any aspect of modern political or cultural life. The phrase, ostensibly referring to language or action that is designed to avoid offence or harm to protected groups, has become a sharp criticism. It is synonymous with a sort of cultural McCarthyism, usually committed by the left. https://www.economist.com/open-future/2018/09/10/has-political-correctness-gone-too-far No woman would survive more than 30 minutes in the NFL. Women will not participate in men's sports because they won't be able to handle the physical endurance required, nor the brutality, nor the talent level. A woman ranked #5 on the WTA could not beat a #758 man on the ATP as John McEnroe so truthfully stated. Hopefully all this craziness will pass and we'll return to some form of normalcy and indecency. The term first appeared in the Marxist-Leninist vocabulary following the Russian Revolution (really, a coup) of 1917 to describe strict adherence to policies and principles of the Soviet Union’s Communist Party. “Political correctness” was invented by the communists to camouflage the truth about events and policies in the Soviet Union that had resulted in mass murders, the starvation of millions, and slave labor camps. It was “politically incorrect” to reveal such facts; the “party line” was for all loyal communist party members to promote the same “politically correct truths” about the “good life” under totalitarian government.

Trump appeals fraud case as $112,000-a-day interest accrues
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
This is really beautiful how this is unfolding, up until now this fraud has been able to pretend that he's a multi-billionaire, many of us know differently. The conman barely has a half a billion dollars cash available to him to cover his current obligations, and he is scrambling, you can bet he is scrambling right now to save his empire, and millions upon millions around the world hope against hope that his empire crumples. He has worked hard to earn that enmity over a career of crime spanning 45 years. Lock up Trump. -
Quantity over quality only works if you're selling one dollar items at a swap meet. It doesn't work for tourism, the state of the tourism industry is diminishing by the day, due to an extraordinary lack of intelligence on the part of the officials. As far as the sexpat talk goes, yes there are some who come here for that, but from what I'm told by people to run foundations that cater to women in the industry the vast majority of customers are Thai or Asian, not westerners.

The terribly dangerous aspect of all this sense of victimhood, safe places and a lot of this other woke and PC nonsense is that it's fostering a spectacularly weak generation of people who are not prepared for any of the problems that life will throw their way. Any of the challenges they might face in the coming years or something catastrophic like war and famine, and they would just crumble. The slightest issues, problems or catastrophe might be too much for this overly coddled group to handle. Gen Z could be the weakest generation in the history of mankind. We are most definitely moving backwards as a civilization. Social media combined with the lost art of parenting are primarily to blame.

More incentives for growers not to burn sugarcane before harvesting
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Exactly it's the wealthy and the elite who own these sugar refineries, and do not give one iota of consideration to the environment, nor the common man, nor his plight, nor the laws, nor the health of the nation. It is the incessant and non-stop worship of the golden calf, this is their God. -
How Safe Are You - Living in Thailand?
spidermike007 replied to MangoKorat's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
While I agree with what you're saying fundamentally, Latin America has a considerably higher level of violence then Thailand does, especially in regard to the locals preying on foreigners. Granted there's a lot of craziness here Thai on Thai, but foreigners seem to be left alone for the most part. That could change if things get really crazy, but I still think that a rural area or a small town is far preferable to a big city and I think most would agree. -
Was the theft of the car and the murder of the man directly related? If so that's one rather dramatic way to deal with crime. I've been reading about stories of people in the US who have been getting their cars stolen, and broken into, and the trend is increasing dramatically. Some of them are taking some rather extreme measures to avoid this fate. Thankfully this is not a rampant problem here at this point.

The Thai economy is in far worse condition than the officials like to admit, the Prayuth Decimation continues to affect the nation on countless levels, and I don't think things are going to get better anytime soon. Keep in mind we still have extremely incompetent army goons within the administration, and Sretta is finance minister in addition to being PM. That was a mistake of historic proportions. Sometimes a mistake is wearing white after Labor Day in New York City, other times a mistake is invading Russia with the approach of winter.

Navy Suspected Of Attempting To Keep Sunken Corvette A Mystery
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I can understand why they would want to keep this a secret, it was likely negligence on the part of a crewman, or faulty maintenance. The captain of the ship should have not only been fired but he should have lost his position entirely from the Navy. They have a lot to cover up, the armed forces in Thailand are not exactly what we would refer to as transparent, nor are they accountable, and they certainly would like to keep it that way. -
CT125 and Vespa Sprint 150, Southern Thailand Tour.

Check out the temple on the northern end of Ban Krut bay it, has the most extraordinary stained glass I've seen on any temple in Thailand, it's really worth a visit. Nice area. Very peaceful. Great beaches. -
You're analyzing this way too much, the bottom line is they don't make enough and it makes no difference whatsoever for any of us to give them 20 Baht when they deliver food. Zero difference in our lives, but a significant difference in theirs.
-
Incorrect. I know people whose family members have bought positions in the police department for 2 million baht. Were they just making that stuff up? Do you honestly think a Thai family is going to come up with that amount of money if they don't know what kind of profit is involved? This is not speculation.
-
Wow talk about a man of conviction, it takes a lot of guts to do what he did, yes it does seem crazy to most of us but that is what I would call moral conviction in action. And I think it is a reflection of the level of outrage and disgust at the campaign that the IDF is engaging in, and the disproportionate level of their incredible destruction of Gaza and the murder of innocent women and children. Israel's in a very precarious position at this point, and is finding itself increasingly isolated on the world stage. They had better be very careful. If the US abandons support of Israel they are in big trouble.
-
Do you have any understanding of how the police, immigration and customs work in Thailand? Do you know anybody that is an officer within any of those institutions? I do and it's very well known that positions are bought for significant amounts of money. Do you honestly think that a hard-working Thai family would invest millions of baht to purchase a position if there wasn't a hugely lucrative franchise connected to that? Your insistence that the RTP and it's higher officers are innocent of corruption is somewhat purile and has no foundation in reality.

That's a completely juvenile response and it really has very little to do with my original post. This has nothing to do with whether or not my friend had excess baggage, this simply has to do with what he was charged for the excess baggage. Most airlines have policies that are in line with the majority of airlines around the world. Malaysia Air does not, the amount that they're charging for excess baggage is insanity, and is well beyond the price of the original ticket. Just say no to Malaysia Air is going to be my lifelong policy.

He is guilty by association, he's the deputy director of the RTP, there's likely less than a 1% chance that he's not guilty of laundering money. How else would he hide the hundreds of millions of baht that he's likely been collecting? Your presumption of innocence seems quite naive knowing the RTP like we know them. Perhaps you believe in the whole clean cop PR program that he has been engaging in?

It is of extreme importance to differentiate between people protesting against Israel's approach to this war in Gaza, and antisemitism. They are two completely different things, however Israel is an extremely thin skinned nation, and very intolerant of any sort of criticism. As a Jew I know that many Jews are thin-skinned when it comes to any sort of criticism of Israel, and it's often interpreted as being anti-semitic. I've been called a Jew hater for criticizing Israeli policy so I know how sensitive the issue can be, and it's very important to interpret it correctly. Jews and all people have the right to be critical of Israeli policy, especially now that the extremists have taken over gotten the support of a hateful PM, and are engaging in what could be called a ridiculously disproportionate campaign against the Gazans. Israel must be very careful at this point as they are losing support around the world, by the day it's gotten to the point where there are very few nations who are still supportive of Israel, and the IDF, and even the US is considering withdrawing some support. That would put them in dire straits, and very isolated. But, they deserve that, in my opinion.

How Safe Are You - Living in Thailand?
spidermike007 replied to MangoKorat's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I think we are very safe here, safer than in most other nations around the world. Think about it, though Thailand does ally itself with China, if a major conflict were to break out Thailand is not particularly useful to anyone. It's not particularly strategic and it doesn't have enough minerals or other resources to attract the attention of nations with bad intentions. Granted if things were to get really crazy then the biggest cities in Thailand are probably the last places that you want to be. But, in general, I think we're very safe here. Especially in smaller towns and rural areas. -
Thailand Adjusts Excise Taxes on Local Liquor to Boost Tourism
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This is wrong, this will not have any effect on tourism, a big zero. What might have an effect on tourism would be lowering the import wine tax on fine wines, and growing that part of the industry. Perhaps that would help to attract the wealthier tourists that Thailand keeps droning on and on about. Tourists who have very deep pockets are highly offended when they come here and try to order a bottle of wine that they pay $100 for at home, and it's $500 to $600, or it's just not available. And nobody knows anything about them because the wine industry is so severely oppressed due to the heinous taxation issues. This administration needs to start getting some smarts, and exercising their brains rather than behaving like buffalo, and passing one policy after another which make no difference. -

No Foreign Mafia in Phuket, says Phuket Governor
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
And we must assume that governors in Thailand are comprised of only the most noble and truthful people, and they never earn anything beyond their salaries. His level of credibility is on par with all governors. None. Say and do anything to avoid the truth.
