Thai PM to visit Europe, aiming to bolster trade and investment
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Another opportunity to work the $800 million smile, check out some new 5 star hotels, eat in the latest Michelin starred restaurants, and drink the recent vintage of Lafite, Margaux and Domaine Romanee-Conti. It is very unlikely he will accomplish anything productive, as that is not what this do nothing PM is all about. -
Chiang Mai Air Quality and Pollution
spidermike007 replied to Cheesekraft's topic in Air Pollution in Thailand
This is an abomination. The farmers do not seem to care one iota about their fellow Thai. Not one iota. If the political hacks were not bought and paid for by big agra, the burning would stop. It is your compromised nature and your unwillingness to put up a good fight, that is the major cause of the air apocalypse we are facing. People are dying and suffering in hospitals on your watch, and their blood is on your hands. You are cowards. You are incompetents. You deserve to be kicked out with a vengeance. Why is this happening? Because "Stretta the tiny" is a man who represents corporate interests. This is the man who represents the elite. This is not a man who represents progress, change, or helping the nation to move forward. This is not a man who represents the people. This not a man who cares one iota about the well-being of the people. Corporations do not want to clean up the air, they're making billions by fouling the air. All the government or provinces would have to do is crack down on sugar companies and the air would improve by 70% overnight, this time of year. One simple move, yet do they do that? Do they enforce any of the existing laws? Absolutely not, they do not care for the people one iota, the common man, us, our neighbors and friends and family, we mean less than zero. Sretta. The do nothing man. -
Bangkok airports hit turbulence: Ranked among world’s worst
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I don't mind Swampy, but I don't consider it to be exceptional on any level. Thankfully I get to use the airline lounges due to gold status because I fly so much. Other than that there's nothing remarkable about any of the airports here. They could really do a lot to improve them, they could improve Wi-Fi, make it free throughout the airport and easy to access, they could provide many services which they don't, and of course we all know that they could improve immigration dramatically, but they don't. So they pretty much deserve the status that they have, which is near the bottom of the heap. -
PM Srettha revs up plans for Thailand’s Formula One debut
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This sick, twisted man cares not one iota for his people, or he would be doing something about the #1 emergency facing Thailand. The horrific pollution. Instead he focuses on anything but. This is an abomination. The farmers do not seem to care one iota about their fellow Thai. Neither does the PM. Not one iota. It is getting to the point of being a disaster in the making. I have never in all the years I have been here, seen it as bad as it is this year. And nothing is being done. The do nothing PM, and the do nothing authorities are totally unwilling to stand up to the enemy of the people, Big Agra, and their refineries. Something must be done. The indifference is stunning. This is truly a pathetic situation. There should be a public revolt.

Cat has serious flu...worth saving?
spidermike007 replied to VinnieK's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
I know people in the US who have spent upwards of $20,000 trying to save a pet's life. I cannot relate to spending alot of money doing that, but I am not a pet person, and have not been for the past 45 years. I know how attached people can get to their pets. If you are talking about 1,000 baht, to try to save the cat's life, that is nothing. If you are unwilling to spend that amount, you are either callous or seriously broke. Either way, you should not have a pet. -
Bangkok airports hit turbulence: Ranked among world’s worst
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson Chai Watcharong responded to the ranking on Twitter. He urged Thai people to carefully check the source of the rank before concluding or depreciating airports in Thailand. More deflection. Do not accept blame. Do not promise improvement. Do not admit failure. Just deflect. Never, ever look within for the source of the problem. -
Outrage is a contemporary form of heroism for Gen Z, the weakest generation in the history of mankind. These days being a victim is considered by many to be akin to being a hero. It is a sickness, it is a disease, and we choose whether or not we want to be victims. Play the victim card all you want, you won't get any sympathy from us. A shop has a policy like this, you just laugh, and you walk away and you find another shop. It really is that simple. However, if you want to make your life complicated, if you want to make yourself miserable, if you want to pretend that you're a victim, then be an outraged netizen. The weakest and most pathetic of all people.

Well it sure has been a bad week for the Swiss. What rocks are these creeps crawling out from under? Most Swiss I'm know are quite decent people. Why is it that people just can't show some respect for the local people? Who beats up an older woman, who beats up any woman? Who are these people? Let us hope that he gets pretty significant punishment for this barbaric act, and it acts as a deterrent to thwart the actions of fools in the future.
-
Well we know for sure it certainly is not the completely useless PM. However this is not something we're allowed to discuss.
-
Nah. For me 72 virgins sounds like the most boring activity possible. I want experience, I want real women. Give me five real women with experience over 72 virgins any day of the week. To me that's just a hyped up bit of ridiculousness, meant to appeal to men with a sense of fake purity, and total confusion about life.

Forward is not backward. Thailand is moving backwards. On a dozen different levels. Traffic, safety, environmental, high speed transit, corruption, democracy, willingness to tackle the huge problems that come with face, and a lack of honesty, education, or lack thereof, etc. I could go on and on. And some issues can't be discussed at all. I agree that we need to stay awake, and be critical. Doesn't mean we don't love it here. I do, despite all the issues I have. However, let's call a spade a a spade. 10 years of army rule is not helping anything or anyone, but the super rich.

Schengen Visa to Spain
spidermike007 replied to mikebell's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
I just got a Schengen visa for my woman, and a friend of mine just got one for his girlfriend. It does require a lot of documentation, proof of tickets, accommodations, travel within Europe, financial support, etc. It's helpful to have a good deal of money in the bank and things of that nature, but it did not seem like it was a particularly difficult process, assuming she qualifies. -
You speak the truth, and I agree with most of what you've said. And that's why it's incumbent upon us to treat women well, to treat women as if we would want to be treated, with kindness and respect. However if it's not working then it's time to move on. There is a decent way to do that and there's an ugly way to do that, like everything else.

Graft-Busters Not Sending Case Against Big Joke Back To Police
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As the national deputy director of the RTP, the nation's largest and most profitable pyramid scheme, the chances of big joke not being guilty would have to be less than 1%. The real question is, will they really go after him, and if they do, will there be a conviction, and will he serve the time in prison he so richly deserves? -
Loan rejections soar for Thai homes under 3 million baht
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The association’s secretary-general and chairman of the executive board, Alangkot Boonmasuk, pointed out that several factors contribute to this situation. The high household debt level, which stands above 90% of the country’s GDP, coupled with declining incomes and rising living costs, have all weakened the purchasing power for residential properties. I am confused. The administration keeps reporting on how good the economy is. How strong the nation is. How things are looking up. How an economic correction is NOT coming. So, which is it? Up or down? Why on earth would I distrust the government over reality? -
I am happy here. Would I live here full time if I was wealthy? No. But, for those of us on a limited income, the quality of life here is quite high. So, at least half the reason I am here is financial. Thailand is still reasonable. It used to be cheap. Has not been cheap for a long time. But, it is still reasonable. I know people who pay 10,000 baht a month for newer 3 bedroom houses in nice towns. In major cities in the US? $3000-4000 a month. That is 140,000 baht! I had my motorbike seat recently redone on my scooter. 400 baht. A friend of mine had similar work done in the US. $275. I recently had a guy come over and insulate my ceiling. I bought the insulation and paid him 2000 baht for labor. In the US? $800 and up. I recently had an electrician do some work on the house. Nearly a full day of work. Paid him 1000 baht. In the US? $800 and up. An oil change for my scooter costs me 200 baht, with Castrol oil. In the US? $75. When I travel here I stay in nice four star hotels in Bangkok. 1800-2000 baht. In the US? $130 for a crappy motel. $200 and up for a nice room. I eat well here. In a smaller town you can get a three course meal for 200-250 baht. In the US? 2000 baht and up, plus tax and a nearly mandatory 15% tip. And I get attitude for leaving a $15 or $20 tip. Here, I get nothing but gratitude for a 20-40 baht tip. Recently I was in the US and wanted to order from a delivery service. Besides the meal costing $45 for two dishes, tax and delivery service fees was well over $12. So, $57 for two dishes? I made a sandwich instead of engaging in that foolishness. I visit the emergency room here to visit a specialist, and with x-rays I am out the door for 2000 baht, at a private hospital. In the US? $300-2000. Friends of mine, who are single, enjoy the company of a young, beautiful woman for a couple of hours, for 2500 baht. In the US? $800 an hour now for a decent looking gal, with ALOT of attitude. I could go on and on, all day long. I live at a level here, that I would never be able to live at, in the US, in most of Europe, in Oz, or Canada. Yes things are more expensive than they used to be. But, it is very relative. A quote from a friend recently: My neighbor told me she got a quote for a wood fence around her house. It was around $8,800 ($2800 for the materials, labor (2 days), $6,000. 2 days at 8 hours a day = 16 hours of labor). For $6,000 labor/16 hours that works out to be around $375 an hour labor. Another neighbor got some quotes to get the outside of his house painted. Average quote was around $5,000. He bought all the paint and supplies for $1500. Labor $3,500 and the house would have been finished in 1 day. $3,500 divided by 8 hours of labor = $437 an hour to paint a one story ranch house. That is sheer stupidity. Since when are laborers charging what psychiatrists used to get?

Thai woman exposes half-naked motorbike rider (video)
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
One has a choice in this life whether or not to consider oneself a victim, or not. Many seem to prefer victimhood. With this new generation, it is a new type of heroism. Whatever happened to real heroes? -
You forgot the best one of all, embarrass them consistently in front of their friends and strangers. They are so utterly obsessed with face this will drive them away like the plague. Of course you can always do what real men do, and just tell them I'm leaving, this isn't working for me anymore, it's been nice knowing you, and I hope things work out well for you. Take care, goodbye. You'd be surprised how easily a lot of Thai women can get over a relationship.
