  1. Yep, those few decision makers in power think their moral duty is to do what they deem good at the expense of most people.
  2. For everyone money number one. Imagine trying to exist or live a lifestyle without it.
  3. What did the taxi meter show? Always check the meter when entering a taxi and ask to turn it on if it is not. Consider you gave a good tip for the pleasant journey.
  4. Obvious, take your tax number and enquire/report at the tax office. Assume you also have payslips or monthly monetary deposits in your bank account from the employer to show the tax office the bank statements. You could also take your previous year tax return if you have one with its documentation to show tax office.
  5. Yes that is correct for credit cards but different for debit cards.

  11. Need to study and choose wisely which mutual funds. My wife has invested in a few of them with different banks and they have shown no or very little growth over 6 years now and most of them are in negative territory. Would have been better to keep the capital in the bank and at least get the interest and have retained the capital.
  12. Only tried them once many years ago, their burgers were more expensive and found better value at Burger King. Surprising they lasted so long, most times did not see many customers eating in their stores in Bangkok.
  13. Recommend if not already done, you should read Canada's tax rules/laws and breaking tax residency.
  14. Yes, if the income is over a certain threshold according to Thai tax rules. I would argue it is not only limited to domestic income but also income sources remitted to Thailand from abroad and how that income is treated according to the dta and Thailands tax laws. Avoiding Double Taxation A government signs a double tax treaty with another country to protect its citizens and businesses against the risk of double taxation. When there is a DTA between two countries, taxpayers would pay taxes in one jurisdiction only. Thus, saving them from additional costs of taxes. Avoiding Tax Evasion Perhaps the most important motive for governments to sign tax treaties is avoiding tax evasion. Taxpayers may evade taxes if they are tax residents of more than one country. They may do it deliberately or due to a lack of legislative enforcement.
  15. Just finished watching Season 5 of The Last Kingdom. All seasons 1 to 5 were entertaining.
  16. Think this needs to be confirmed as do not see it anywhere on the Thai revenue department websites. Think accountants list this assuming that tax has already been paid on the income in else where or in ones home country. Think Thailand does not offer a tax free existence as most countries do not and DTA will cover where taxes are to be paid and rebate claimed for tax already paid. Theoretically all 180 day and over residents should be reporting their income streams according to Thailand tax rules. You could always ask an accountant to apply for a tax directive with RD department relating to taxes on your income streams.
  17. Thats it. I think 3BB will not start until they are paid upfront that 1500 baht deposit and 1st month fee, its not any money lost. But he should know that it would be a min 12 month contract otherwise there will be a penalty to pay for early termination of service.
  18. You say you use 3BB and then write that 3BB say there is no service to the condo? Anyway, if there is no 3BB service to the building/condo then 3BB need to do some work with manpower and materials to provide a service for you, fiber optic cable, terminal unit and router. You need to check if the condo unit will allow 3BB to install the system. Are you sure the 1500 baht is not the deposit and 1st month of service. We had to pay in advance such amount as a sort of guarantee to start the installation and the service is for a 1 year contract so they can recover their cost through the 1 year of service. If you stop the service earlier than 1 year there will also be a penalty fee to pay of about 4500 baht. Depends what you want but you can also buy a 4G router, subscribe to a 4G internet package. Is this in Bangkok?
