  1. I have a couple of 8 drive PCIe card labelled LSI and Dell, they don't make them any longer and you can pay a lot for an second hand original - They can be flashed into IT mode, the same as the original cards can. I think most home server guys run these counterfeit cards. They haven't let me down yet. As you say, these days. components can be manufactured the same or as near to the original for a fraction of the price of a used card. Would I use conterfeit RAM? probably not.
  2. Not in Issan, but I have taught in two government Mathayom schools that reasons beyond me have run French courses. the teachers were Thai. The teachers all had a good ability having studied in France for some time, they would talk with the French English teachers :D I know of one native French teacher working in a Khon Kaen high school - most prestigious mathayom schools will have a couple of foreign language classes other than English, for example French, German, Korean or Chinese. Not saying there are lots of jobs from French native speakers, but they do exist.
  3. https://puie.ac/overview/ I believe he's talking about this guy, he started the course at Thongsook, then moved to Siam Tec ..
  4. Could you demonstrate which type of video file is capable of carrying a virus? I download files via torrent because I value my 1) privacy and the 2) quality - the illegal streaming services that are mentioned here are loaded with trackers. Nothing in this world is free, servers and bandwidth cost money - you are not watching the same file as those who download, its reencoded to use less bandwidth - if you are happy to log onto these services (a lot are run by Russian or Chinese organizations) then that's great, if you want a lower quality picture or sound, then no problem but for me, there are the reasons. I like having the choice of audio and video quality, I dont know anything about steamio / deadbrid / koi plug-in / etc .. the files are the same files as downloaded on torrent, they just use the community bandwidth to stream, it seems a great way to view, but doesnt really contribute to a community.
  5. I think you got to start somewhere, 1/4 mile isnt so big. My main concern would actually catching someone, then what happens? There seems to be a reluctance of anyone to do anything further (like village headman or police). Put some solar floodlights ontop of the pole along with your cameras further down, and some motion sensors and see what happens. The optimal distance for a post mounted CCTV camera is 2.5m off the ground .. maybe enclose the whole thing in a metal box. They have traffic cameras around my way in metal boxes and the locals way with dealing with it is to take the post, box and camera for a walk, the experiment is never to be tried again. Hope you have an idea on how to get the footage from the sd card every day. I have a dash cam with sd card and I thought to download the footage of a python crossing the road, it was going to take hours to download direct to my phone, that's my only experience with a wifi camera. Hope you get everything sorted.
  6. What will you do with the footage? Recording to a SD card may be a bit fruitless, wouldn't the thieves just take the cameras? With solar panels you are advertising their location. Im currently playin with off-grid long range PIR sensors. I would rather know when thieves are entering the property and use the sensors to trip floodlights. For me, I want a would-be thief to see the number of cameras as a deterrent, the PIR sensors are just for fun, I hope I never catch anyone, it would be on the same system as my greenhouse monitor system. What kind of distance is the farm, how far away are the ponds / scene of crime.
  7. It was from a few years back 2020-21 - there was 3 series of 2-4 episodes, there was this series on BBC2, 24 hours in police custody on C4 and one on sky, that focused on Liverpool, all interesting - I was a little saddened at the outcome of S04, they got the bad guys for a long time, but the ending was a bit sad, you need to watch the final credits and do a google ..
  8. Just watching BBC2 The Detectives - Fighting Organised Crime looks like a good one. Filmed around Manchester, The last series was 2021. I noticed there was a new series (S04) last November. It took a little time to discover online as it seems to be mislabeled S01. The 3 files are suffixed, ‘taking down an OCG’
  9. I kind of sympathize, I don't share your opinion about the English language but isn't it time delivery drivers to a) Do their job! - Even my wife tells me how bored she is of it all. At least twice a day we get a phone call "Song Patsadou krup" - OK, send it to the house, just leave it at the door. "Baan You Nai?" - As the OP says, "I do my job.." why do these people not know their job, the address is on the parcel, I know Thai addresses are a little difficult, but why not try? Drive to the village and ask. Even when we tell these people, they often just ignore the clear directions and drive straight past. (before email, I used to deliver financial documents in London, I had addresses but I couldn't rock up to the front desk, I had to know where the goods entrance and post rooms were - any fool can drive a truck, not everyone can memorize the routes, accumulate local knowledge and build relationships with other drivers) b) Learn to speak to people - I have a regular lazada driver, and he's cool, he calls and tells me he is coming even tho' we are never at home. If I dont pickup then he doesnt keep on calling and calling. If it's after 6.00pm I will pickup and he asks me politely (In Thai) if I can wait until tomorrow. How many drivers call and just say "err .. err .." "Darling? Darling?" or "house Baan Baan house".. why not just speak in easy to understand Thai to everyone.
  10. I thought the series was slightly different, the Gary Oldman character didn’t feature so much, it was more about River. When Jackson Lamb did feature it was more about his cunning traps and out of character violence. i finished watching The Golden Hour @Mutt Daeng recommended it a while back, featuring Pencil from Mocro Maffia - I don’t know why i didn’t get round to downloading it before. I thought it was good, I managed to watch over 3 nights. Just started on an old series I had queued up - Guyana - about gold smuggling. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt5904172/
  11. Is there any replacement for the Haco plug? Something of similar quality? I have a stock of spares but its running low.
  12. I had a teachers job without a degree .. I was a long time trusted employee and the school and the agency I was working for helped me ( actually it was at a time when the government changed the rules so that the employer would be fined and not the employee ) Yeah, the WP was easy enough, I just presented all my education certificates, I was legally teaching (not a teaching assistant / librarian / foreign admin as some suggest, my WP was for a teacher ) the school were aware I was non-degree and it was fine. However, this doesn't give you any leverage with getting a teachers permit or waiver, which you need to get an 12 month extension of stay. Without your own non-O either ME or 12M you stand no chance with immigration unless your school / employer is well connected. Anyway, Off topic - If the OP has any kind of degree, it will get him teaching in Thailand, however he will need a teachers permit or waiver, without an Ed degree it will be a lot of further hard work after the waiver period has finished - not really worth the effort, financially to do this and then work in a government school. IMHO
  13. You dont need to send your Mac to an official center, the option is studio, which only do the repairs under the direction of apple. I have only had bad experiences with copper wired / istudio. Im not a fan of these guys that repair stuff in (tech) malls. To my mind, this guy is the best http://machomeservice.com - he's an ex-apple tech, from the days when there was only one Apple service center in the whole country situated in the carpark of carefour, Silom. The things I like about this guy is he will try and diagnose over the phone and give you a possible ball park figure, obviously he cant guarantee this, but its a good place to start. To me, this is always a good sign of a good tech that he has seen issues like this before. He speaks Thai in a clear and easy manner for westerners to comprehend. He uses LINE but he's happy to call you up on the phone and speak directly with the customer, I dont like speaking Thai on the phone but he makes things so simple. I think he speaks a little English. I just had an iPhone screen replaced in this place in Khon Kaen, https://www.macupstudio.com Seems quite a professional outfit, a lot of technicians and the correct equipment like a microscope outputting to a TV to show customers the issues, good dust extraction, space to repair computers - but annoyingly they were happier to ask my wife (who was stood next to me) questions about my phone even when she told the reception and the tech that I could speak Thai and to ask me directly. Both these places accept deliveries from Kerry, I have sent my MacBook to Machome twice and never an issue.
  14. How can it be the same as every year? It's a new initiative, it only started last year and reaches its goal in 2027. So that's 5 more years of dicking around on their phones, 5 more years of photo ops and they change the name from "Road Safety Master Plan" to something a little different. A cunning plan.
  15. Try googling the filename Arctic.Circle.S03.1080p.STAN.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.H.264-FLU Arctic.Circle.S03E01.Return.1080p.STAN.WEB DL.DDP5.1.H.264 FLUX.mkv
  16. How about Vigil? I seem to have missed S01, so started on that last night. And Arctic Circle or Ivalo S03 - I need to catch up on, dont know if its worth a look?
  17. We moved insurance companies after the first year of Toyota arranged insurance. The company wanted to come and inspect the vehicle - she walked up to the garage, said "as new" and walked away. I didn't over think it.
  18. Deca Zla or Children of Evil A Serbian mini series adaptation of a book. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21987088/
  19. The BiB are often guilty of a lot of things, I find that when on the bike, without a helmet the roadblocks are for yabba dealers, when I’m out on the big bike with a loud pipe they might want to see a license, but often flipping the visor up will get me a pass (this has worked at roadblocks around Hat Yai to Hua Hin, in Hua Hin they want to see a license), and when out in the truck, they correctly presume that westerners have licenses and insurance, they check the road tax and give me a salute. Others experience may be different, especially in tourist areas but generally they don’t care.
  20. Keep an eye out for S11 of C4's 24 Hours in Police Custody the first episode (maybe a one off speaial) is called the siege, which aired last night.
  21. It must have been some keen uploader, the pack was deleted shortly after. I had some difficulty connnecting to iplayer before the weekend, everything seems good now. Sometimes I need to clear the browser cache and it's fine, sometimes I need to reboot the computer. I dont think you need to worry about the BBC tech guys, but there was defiantly something up, I know your DNS provider is good, (as I suggested it to you :) ) and I use PIA which I always rave about, just a little hiccup, happens sometimes. The wife is a bit of Liam Neeson fan, we watched In The Land Of Saints & Sinners last night. It got a 7.2 on IMDB so just about sneaked in there. I thought it was interesting, I liked the sets, Ireland in the 70s, the storyline was a bit predictable, the casting good - lots of the usual suspects when it comes to series / movies. There are no subtitles, but I let the wife just watch it anyway, she kept focus for the duration even tho' she hadn't a clue what was being said.
  22. Are you sorted yet? The whole series packs are available. All 6 episodes.
  23. We watched an Australian movie last night - Talk To Me Not really my thing, but the missus loved it - if you want a straightforward scary / ghost movie to watch with a Thai partner, not a bad choice.
  24. yes, I have a couple of proton accounts - I use one on my iPhone, in theory the app works well, but as you say, you get emails nagging you to buy the service. Then you need to subscribe to use their email bridge allowing you to use a mail client.
