It seems that coyote dancing in front of Thais, kids included, at schools, temples etc is OK as it is 'cultural'. Coyote dancing in front of foreigners is not apparently.

Might be a shortage of qualified Thai pilots soon. Maybe let a few foreign pilots fly their wet-leased planes on domestic routes to free up some Thai pilots?

Your description of Koh Phangan is a tad unfair. The island is quite beautiful in places and not spoilt by over developed like many of the other islands. Not sure that it will be like this for long though.

Not likely if most Thais are like our staff. They usually get paid on the 15th of the month. They have already asked to be paid on the 12th. There will be no holding back on the spending. Zero interest loans will be provided on the 20something until the next payday at the end of the month. (This happens every year.)

Very true but we have seen a 'significant' increase in Americans since Covid has finished. In the small part of the business that we are in, we would see about 6 - 10 groups of Americans per year. Now, it is sometime that many every week or two. As you say, not a large number abut significant.

This, and other scams, have been happening in Thailand - forever. Pay the builder for rebar, he uses 'coat hanger' wire. Pay for expensive waterproof cement and grout for the pool, he uses the standard non-waterproof version. Pay for expensive tiles, he uses a cheap, knock-off ones. In one case, I had to replace the whole roof including the steel supports to correct this one. The cheaper ones were a slightly different size. My son-in-law is a builder in the UK. It is not much different there.
