  1. Have a pool and eat and drink outside. The little sods bathe and drink the pool water and eat any crumbs found on the floor. Then someone has to clean up all of their schitt. Also get wagtails and other birds.
  2. I am not sure if that is correct. I changed from retired to work permit about 20 years ago so the rules my have changed but I definitely did not leave the country. I even had a work permit whilst on a retirement visa for a short while. Labour office said 'You are retired from your own country. If we give you a WP and you pay taxes - nothing to do with immigration. Not their business'. The accountant sorted it all out at a later date.
  3. Here on Koh Samui where I run a small business, but I find the same thing wherever I travel. Smile and say hello and folk smile and say hello back. Sometimes they stop for a chat. I have an annual sabbatical in Chiang Mai. There the locals are a bit more reserved but still friendly. Just back from Hua Hin and same same - but not many locals. Mostly older western folk where I walked. Mind you, the young Thai ladies offering massages just around the corner from the hotel where I stayed were very friendly even though I declined their services.
  4. Why am I here? 300 days of sunshine a year. Always hot (or at least quite warm). Friendly people who smile and say hello (not like in the UK). Cold beer at a decent price. Great food. Friendly, pretty girls. Less taxes. And I see this view every day
  5. So, from 151,175 registrations, only 18,509 have successfully renegotiated their repayments to a lower amount. A bit more work needed methinks Mr PM.
  6. Well done to the police on unravelling that little trail of events.
  7. Not everyone on this forum drinks at Starbucks. I also have no idea what a coffee would cost there.
  8. Very true but still not enough. Folk do not appreciate the strength of the sea, rips, currents. We lost two lads the other day. Both 15 years old. Five went swimming even though there were red flags flying. Three came back alive. https://aseannow.com/topic/1321182-two-teenagers-drown-off-koh-samui/#comment-18730858
  9. More pain for the folk and SME's trying to make a living.
  10. Let me knbow how your typing is when you too get Parkinsons! (sic)
  11. I use Firefox and have no probs accessing my NW on line account via my laptop.
  12. and tell the police that they have drugs, check passports, visas, TM 30's, driving licences and anything else that you can think of. Does the owner pay tax on his rental income? (Most do not.)
  13. This guy could be the first politician to realise and accept that all of the meetings are a waste of time. They only generate hot air, increased debt and 'major infrastructure projects'.
  14. "Transport minister Airlines slash prices with 38 more domestic flights" Fixed it.
  15. What does this have to do with tourist's safety? Silly comment anyway. I bought, built and sold for a profit. Lived here 23 years so far rent free. All of my customers, friends and neighbours have also found the same. How about 'Better thus never to buy anything anywhere unless you put in what you do not mind to loose'.
  16. A sad waste of two lives. 😟 Please educate the parents as well as the kids. Rips can kill. Chaweng is famous for them.
  17. Got to the beach, it''s quite a long one, and try and find somewhere to eat and have a drink.
  18. I am currently in Hua Hin and it is fairly busy. Hotels are busy (I do not know %ages but booking two rooms took a while and were not at the cheap rates from before.) However, the town is anti 'western tourist'. Most western tourists like to sit on the beach (or next to it) and eat and have a drink. Not a chance. On the beach, miles and miles of private houses, condos and hotels all saying 'private property. Do not enter.' Most folk that I saw in the town were expats (Europe) and Thai tourists.
  19. News reporting on the political situation here in Thailand is a joke. It is only there to sell news. There have always been, and will always be people, behind the scenes 'giving advise'. It happens everywhere.
