Norway Halts Income Letters at Thai Embassy; Retirees Affected
When Thai Immigration first asked for Embassy Letters of confirmation of income, foreigners were NOT required to submit tax returns! How then was it possible to imply, it was done for tax purposes??? I suggest you go back under your bridge and have another think on your postings.

Tax-Free Wine Boom in Thailand Spurs Costs and Controversy
"Did they not see that happening"? ....... Would they ever? More to the point, they went looking for the problems and trouble it would cause. Then obviously found it.

Using Agent at Immigration - good idea?
I cannot be in the know for every countries passport requirements. Had there been any problems with mine, I feel sure the passport application would have been refused.

Using Agent at Immigration - good idea?
Just a thought. While sat waiting in IMMI, watch the comings and goings. An agent is usually quite easy to spot.

Using Agent at Immigration - good idea?
I used an agent to renew my UK passport last April. The lack of hassle was worth every penny I paid, which was £309.00, including the passport cost. All done in 3 weeks. What's not to like?

Gold, the undisputed "safe harbor". Or is it?
Each to their own. Its not a 'can't lose', commodity admittedly, but an average of 20+% yearly in crease, is better than my present bank savings. Strange to say I was refused a £20000 Bullion purchase, last week. No explanation, just a sorry, we can't help you.

Anutin's Mission: All Thai Kids Back in Classrooms
He is out of his mind. Why do these people always, but always praise there education system as if it is faultless, when in all honesty it is totally useless in the majority of cases. There are of course exceptions, but they are few and far between. I don't teach and have never attempted to, but some of the things one hears from those who do, you have to wonder why they bother. Although there are those who have to, to substitute their income. But even they would possibly throw in the towel, due to some of the abuse they have to suffer. And that not from the kids, but the teachers they have to 'work' with.

Has anyone successfully been issued with a Thai Taxation Identification Number ( TIN).
I got TIN in late March. Didn't go to the tax office my self, my son did it all. I provided my gross income and the UK tax details. All taken care of in twenty minutes. NO TAX TO PAY. I also did a cash transfer of 44000B last Thursday 15th May, NO PROBLEMS with my UK bank!
