Surely it is much easier for a Thai partner to gain access from a Thai bank on your death.
I would suggest you look a little closer at that, it really is not what you may think!

Oh for heaven's sake, here we go again!
From the original article and for the umpteenth time:
'The program will begin January 1, 2024 and apply only to tax residents in Thailand meaning tourists and short term workers will be exempt. Also exempt will be those who have been taxed in a foreign country that has a standing Double Tax Agreement with Thailand'.
What could be clearer than that?
I notice you didn't include the last line of the above, which reads as.....It is unclear at this point how this will apply to foreigners living in Thailand on a retirement visa.

Out of curiosity,
if we, expats, may be taxed, then will we be entitled to receive any Thai benefits such as Thai state pension, Thai personal tax income, family benefits, disability allowance, and so forth?
Wow! You could possibly get more out than you put in. Although come to think of it, TIT

A 50 Baht/day increase doesn't sound much, but for some of these small businesses an extra payout of 1500Baht/month can mean make or break.

The ones writing here that the tiles are never a problem for them are probably just not at the age where their balance is off, and they don't have pain in their legs which keeps one from being able to stabilize quickly on slippery tiles. It happens to me all the time at 75 years of age. I also despise seeing a grown man wearing flip-flops or sports shoes, and I like to dress up and wear a traditional dress shoe with socks which is an accident waiting to happen in Thailand on all the tile floors.
Far more dangerous are the bathrooms in hotels where there are no safety bars, and the tiles are very slippery in showers and even worse in a bathtub. I never enter either without wearing shower shoes to give me a good gripping, and even then, it's still dangerous without the handrails. I would like to see statistics on how many people are injured, maimed and killed by slippery tiles and bathtubs in Thailand. The figures have to be astronomical, and nothing every changes and no improvements are every made to make it safer. It should be a priority with the Ministry of Health to make the public safe by having tighter restrictions in commercial buildings and homes.
If you are having problems at 75, think what it may be like if you make 80? At 82 I can still do a ten mile hike over rough country. If you do make 80 let me know, I would be interested to know how you cope.

I see the economy is tanking similar to Russia's.
England the only country in history where the people actually voted to have sanctions placed on themselves.
Yes they did, but it was lies and damned lies which won the day at that time. I can say I voted against it, but a lot of good that did.

Are you seriously saying that the Myanmar government imports used cars. Which Myanmar government agency has that responsibility, is there a Used Car Ministry?
IF you noticed I put the word 'Believe' in inverted commas. In other words, I was not sure. However, when visiting in 2019 I questioned the drive of the taxi as to the reason for many of the cars being both left and right hand drive. His answer was that as Myanmar does not manufacture cars they import from other countries, some of which are second hand. So, I was not giving a definitive answer.

Perhaps because Thailand doesn't permit used car imports and no governments, anywhere in the world, import used cars!
Thailand also has a huge new Japanese car-building industry here.
Take a look at Myanmar pre coup. They don't have a car making industry and import cars of either left or right hand drive and I 'believe' some are S/H

The IDP may not be necessary, but it sure helped me.

Like someone said, if I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of my teeth. I have now lost almost all my molars so chewing food has become quite difficult, so I have two choices, dentures or implants. Implants can involve bone grafts and obviously greater expense, but the idea of dentures doesn't thrill me either, like how long does it take to adapt to them? Anyone else had to make this choice?
Yes, I did. Fortunately it was only 2 teeth on the lower right to start with. It depends on the dentists technician as to the fit. The second time was 2 teeth either side upper and the dentist was great but the dental tech required a lot more training. I refused to pay the second time, different dentist. It was eventually sorted when the dentist found another tech, a much better fitting and more comfortable. I believe dentist should keep photos of the dentures provided, it would give a better idea of what you are getting.

You know when you hand over your passport at a hotel and they fill in your details?, that is regarding TM30 ????
You’ll know about it if you need to extend your visa or try to obtain cert of residence for whatever reason etc.
Been here over 20 years and never had to submit a TM30. If we go to stay out of province or any hotel, my wife checks us in and I have never been asked for my passport. Also have never been asked for a TM30 at Immigration. What is the problem?
