  1. I agree. Let the games begin. Labour to win the next election. Nothing to change in the next 5 years as Starmer has said no tax rises and no more spending, as has been proved by his Uturns A change in government is not going to magic extra money. Only tax rises will. Unfortunately, those that whinge and whine don't understand if they want more public services, they have to pay. No political party has the balls to go for the required tax rises or less spending. Hence, nothing will change.
  2. The OP is asking advice about the cost of living in Isaan/Buriram. That would suggest he is looking at monthly expenditure. Were your "house sundries" not a monthly occurrence, they'd be irrelevant to the topic.
  3. Surely not every month, or is you budget averaged out over 1 year?
  4. I have been employed as interpreter in court cases between Thais and foreigners. All cases were heard fairly and the verdict not against one side because of nationality.
  5. 40k Thai baht a month if you don't want to deposit 400k. Immigration don't demand one spends that. It's a figure they believe sustainable. This thread is "cost of living". Not "fixed outgoings".
  6. Not sure which organisation you are running with but I guess it's a small one with small events. The Buriram marathon is big. It has many foreign competitors. I don't think it's ever been won by a Thai. Prizes paid out according to performance, not nationality.
  7. Immigration ask for proof of 40k a month for a married man to get an extension. That's a figure that is easily doable. Your figure doesn't include food or going out.
  8. Nothing more than opinions. Opinions that are, it seems, not shared by anyone else. Speaks volumes.
  9. Judging people without the "need to explain all the reasons why" is worse. Please, explain away.
  10. I agree. However, if the OP has never been married to the child's mother, there could be issues. If not married, being on the birth certificate, will not be enough, in the eyes of some officials.
  11. They all don't. That's not a secret. Maybe some that you've met do. Isaan ladies that know your wife will, possibly, wish they could live like her. Someone not, allegedly, spending 3mil a year is not "Farang kee nok".
  12. 3mil a year is not " a decent western life". It's extravagant. I would guess a very very large %% of westerners in western countries don't spend that much. Why do you think an Isaan lady would wish to live like that?
  13. 3 million for how long? Please define "a decent western lifestyle".
  14. In an ideal world you would, of course, be correct. However, we all know different immigration offices ask for different documents and consulates add requirements. The OP has mentioned he' not married to the mother of his child. That will complicate matters.
  15. If immigration accept your documents, yes, you'll get a 60 day extension. Can't help you about Savannakhet visa for having Thai child other than the fact you hand in documents before midday and collect 2pm next day.
  16. Oh dear. I appear to have touched a nerve. I was referring the the FACT you bang on about how we are all the same, then bangbin about how different someone is because of their upbringing. All the same but scum of the world. Who screwed his best mate's wife?
