  1. Yingluck survives no-confidence vote with 297 votes of support

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra Thursday comfortably survived the no-confidence vote with 297 coalition MPs voting in her support.

A total of 134 opposition MPs voted against her while five MPs abstained.

The vote was held at 9:56 am.

In a working democracy own party MPs don't blindly vote for their own people.

  2. It is a principle question: he is a journalist and apart from being opinionated he has done nothing wrong, as far as we know.

So why is it even remotely okay, to single him out and act against him.

It even doesn't matter if he had his face smashed to porridge or just a scratch on the chin: this is not right!

    Period!

I do not even dare to imagine, what an uproar we would be having here, if the shoe was on the other foot!

I don't even care, if he was a journalist or just an Average Joe at the rally.

As long as you don't do anything...

IMO you forgot to add the word controversial here and there

  3. As long as no Thaksin family and/or friend stand in the election, it should be acceptable.

BTW, half of the MPS should be "selected" for the check and balance purposes.

Well at least you're being honest (as opposed to the current protester leaders).... you want a dictatorship with a few MPs elected as window dressing.

That would only make things worse (IMHO), in the same way the last coup only made things worse.

How did the last coup make things worse?

  4. It was reported many times in ASTV and during PAD protest (the one that seize the airports) that Thaksin gave the 4.6 sq km and the temple to Hun Sen in exchange for his personal gain in oil & gas reserves under the disputed Thai Cambodia sea territories. Chevron was also involved.

Please take it with a a grain of salt, as it is from ASTV/PAD.

And if it's not coming from those 2 sources?

  5. Nick highlighted himself by arguing with the guards, an act of stupidity and arrogance. "Mr. Nostitz said he was arguing with the protest guards when he was spotted by former Democrat MP Chumpon Junsai, who pointed his finger to Mr. Nostitz, accused him of being a "Redshirt reporter", and urged the crowd to evict him from the protest site."

However, like you said "there are good and bad in all", "Some volunteer guards of the protest were seen trying to defend Mr. Nostitz, while others tried to charge at him, before a group of police officers intervened and rescued him from the crowd."

NN's posts in here always showed a degree of bias, despite his claims to the contrary.

If this incident played out as quoted above, he has gone beyond a journalist with a hint of bias, to an antagonist with an agenda.

Luckily for him, he didn't walk in to the tiger cage with a pork chop, he walked in to the rabbit warren with a carrot.

I expect that the larger of his bruises will be on his ego.

    I'm wondering about the

"Speaking to our correspondent later, Mr. Nostitz said he was arguing with the protest guards when he was spotted by former Democrat MP Chumpon Junsai, who pointed his finger to Mr. Nostitz, accused him of being a "Redshirt reporter", and urged the crowd to evict him from the protest site. The photojournalist was promptly assaulted by the crowd."

I thought photojournalists would be wise not to argue while trying to cover a protest?

We don't know, what he "argued" about, do we?

...oh...I better stop now, before I get accused of defending the "Reds" again...

I agree. Let's wait for Nick's side of the story. After our self proclaimed street politics expert has recovered from his injuries he might kindly share his experience here on TV.
