  1. Fortunately this has, I believe, largely changed to frozen ingredients; i.e., cheaper from Makro and the like. Storage and transportation is also cleaner and easier for the sellers. My missus has never bought seafood from the markets and warned me years ago about the commonplace use of formalin there. Just recently I was reminded of this when buying cooked seafood on 2 different occasions; bbq scallops (Coquille St Jaques) and the griddled squid roe which is very popular now. Both tasted good and fresh and were cooked well but left me with a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. I wondered if this was due to formalin.
  2. If all seats were full on take off, they must have been in the toilet. It probably just boils down to safety on landing with no seat belt. But this would still apply when returning to Phuket. So they might just as well have continued to BKK.
  3. "Sir, could you kindly return to the toilet and keep very quiet please"..... "OK, if you must f a r t make sure you let them go quietly."
  4. Ive never had a problem with them.
  5. Sorry to hear that.....Yes the road to the airport is very convoluted and rough. Treat yourself to a taxi next time.
  6. I was there recently for 3 weeks and did not notice any passing by when out and about.
  7. Several in 'Walking Street' area which is the riverside area near the clock. Music far too loud but if you sit at the rear overlooking the river it is quieter........and darker. And there are one or two reataurant/bars really close to the hospital in Adulyatharn Road. All of these host mostly Thais as not too many farang in NKP.
  8. and to do something to justify their own jobs.
  9. That is just what the Thai Government and 'ruling class' want. If you dont understand English it is very difficult to learn objectively about the outside World and other countries' values such as Democracy, human rights, worker's rights, minimum wages, animal welfare, the environmental crisis, etc. Nor can they learn much about their own country's shortcomings. Most Thais cannot see past the end of their nationalistic noses. But hey! maybe they are better off like this.
  10. He drew a lousy map the first time so they couldnt find him...555.
  11. Yes, having stated it to be 3246 days (8.89 years) they'll probably give him an extension now until late 2023 so as not to lose face...555.
  12. Speedboat seats might be more comfortable but surely they cant compete with a cheap beach chair...555.
  13. It is not the law. Some years ago this debate raged nationally, especially when applied to tourists and it was in the press. The deputy head of immigration issued a statement saying that a copy was sufficient. I printed a copy of the article which included his photo and carried it in my wallet for years until it disintegrated...555. Never had to show it or my passport. Wish Id uploaded the article as Ive forgotten the minister's name.
  14. Well of course because you would need it to check into hotels and to check-in for flights.....if flying.
  15. Tory greed and corruption at it's very best. Grabbing what they can before abandoning the sinking Brexit ship that is the UK.
  16. Comeuppance indeed......England 0 USA 0.....555
  17. Has anyone found a list of which Thai TV channels are broadcasting matches each day please?
  18. Good idea! It sounds like you have the same problem with your Thai embassy's website as the UK; that it is basically a mess, with new info. and regs. added without removing outdated regs. and info. That is why I always advise anyone needing up to date info. on visa and entry requirements to email the embassy before applying or travelling..
  19. That makes sense; A giant hoe on the back of a tractor.
  20. That could well be the reason then; 9th to 22nd = 13 days.
  21. Thought the title was a misspelling of black hole...555. Ive never heard of a back hoe before.
