Im not so sure that they are really feeling much deep down inside.. I think that emotions, like rational thought have evolved less and differently in Thailand than in the West. Culturally and religiously they have no concept of Christian/universal love; only instinctive family love and Buddhist compassion which I would argue is different. In fact Buddhist non-attachment/Detachment exemplified by the Buddha himself abandoning his wife, child and family to seek his own salvation, is quite the opposite of love. More importantly Thais have not (yet) been bombarded by slushy romantic music, movies, stories, and advertising as we have been since the day we were born in the West. Who is to say what is right or preferable.

With all this talk of Immigration offices, does anyone know if there is any Thai dept. or phone number that you can report any corruption or misapplication of the rules. I just left my IO who are insisting that 800k must be in the bank 3 months before Non O Retirement renewal not 2. This despite my showing them the rules and link printed out in Thai and English from the Thai Government website clearly stating that it is 2 months. The supervisor said that this only applies to the 1st year. I said that it does not say this anywhere on the website. She then came back with a sheet of the rules which apply to the initial application for a Non- O visa for retirement repeating that it is only the 1st year. She then walked away and disappeared before I could point this out!

Good to hear that u can get the bank stuff done the day before going to immigration. I was under the impression that it had to be the same day. How about about a bank book withdrawal or deposit to show the application day balance is over 800k thb?

If leaving Thailand after 90 days, on a 1 year non imm. mult. entry O visa, including spending time in Vientiane, and re-entering, is this 'Thailand Pass' and insurance required? If so, What is and how is the Thailand pass obtained please?

Right....GF's son just left Amazon (Coffee shops) after 1st month's salary. They wanted him to work 9 hrs not 8 so when he originally queried it they said he would get 1 hr overtime. But no overtime was paid so he left. Anyone know if there is a Govt. number to call to report such exploitation?

Been using these machines for years...usually OK but use your taste buds. If it tastes OK, it is OK. If tainted in anyway find another machine. They are everywhere. They also vary greatly in how much you get for 1 thb.

A satellite is not required for this. just to learn English, which for better or worse is the 2nd language of the World, and teach English and geography (most cant even read a map) in Thai schools to give students the tools to get a passport and go explore the outside of Thailand for themselves Not keep the population chain bound, brainwashed and blinkered by Thai so that they can be more easily controlled, manipulated and exploited for cheap labour.

In preference to Hua Hin proper, I always stay with family at Takiab South beach which is the other side of Kao Takiab; the big rock, at the South end of the main Chaam/Hua Hin beach. More popular with Thais and ot that many hotels or restaurants but enough. The beach is quiet but lively and entertaining at the weekend when the young affluent Bangkok crowd arrive. Hotels and apartments right on the beach or a couple of minutes walk. I like the Blue Wave with spectacular views, or Takiab Beach Resort which is a bit cheaper but friendlier service. Or if u want to go upmarket there is also an Anantara right on the beach.

So what did the Thai so-called monopolies commission have to say about this?

Get a vaccine if you can! I am 70 and fit but have shingles on my left chest and back right now; excruciatingly painful and worst at night when you are trying to sleep. Been using ibuprofen, paracetamol and gabapentin + anti-virals to dampen down the pain. The 2 latter drugs dampened down the internal pain to bearable almost immediately but now the rash is dry and healing it is mostly surface pain. Anti-virals and gababentin now now finished. Not sure if I need to get some stronger painkillers because the pain relief with para. and ibu. doesnt seem to be as effective now.
