  1. Dig up some mines from nearby conflict zones and plant then round your house. The explosion when stepped on should be a good alarm. Try not to step on them when watering the plants and warn the gardener (tongue in cheek reply not serious honest)
  2. Update for anyone intrested: went today with all forms, six months bank statements (all our local brance could do there) waited ovr an hour and a half becore I saw someone. First problem, the form they gave me on the first visit was WRONG - I need a PM7 not PM87. How stupid of me no to notice. Second problem, "volunteeer" said I need a certificate with the bank statements. Off to BBL branch in Central Airport Plaza, got it less than ahour. Then presented the documents to the desk - "no good! Must be 12 months!" I grabbed my "volunteer" who said that's stupid you only arrived in December, he talked to the uniformed one who was insistent. Back to my LOCAL branch, this time ordered TWELVE months - pick up next week. At least I hope it is 12 - from 01/02/23 to yesterday, 51 weeks - think they'll mind?
  3. My Siwss doctor changed be from Beclamethasone (inhaler) to this and I am convinced it caused my weight gain. I went back to Beclamethasone aersol inhaner which is not universally available but I've found two or three chemists in Chiang Mai that stock it. It's also was suppoed to be a wonder cure for Covid.....
  4. By which time the rain will be here - problem solved! Didn't they do EXACTLYthe same last year - wait ninety days then say "crisis? What crisis?"
  5. Snap! Just dug a "pond" last week 1/4 Rai same (6 metres deep) my main worry is falling into it can anybody suggest good (NOT expensive, I know that is a contradiction in terms) fencing of some sort?
  6. AIS send me at least once a day a meaningless SMS to ask me to get their latest product (or the whole message is in Thai so I don't know what it is) - I always ignore them. Does this mean I should look out for the one that actually means something?
  7. Don't know if anyones posted it and I'm not wading through three pages of whinging and whining but you need to register: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
  8. Finally! I voted right up to my limit and then a little beyond - I think the tenants in our hous were filling in the electoral register for me
  9. OK, for fifty years I've been rolling numbers that were I have to say it "meh". Almost all were smokeable, some needed "repairing". The ready-rolled ones in the shops I've found are PERFECTLY MADE - what's their secret? Do they have a machine?
  10. Deputy Transport Minister strategises to enhance Chiang Mai’s transport systems CM has transport systems? I see the bus got cancelled......
  11. How can there be TWO God threas when there is only ONE God? Unless the other thread denies the existence....
  12. So if receiving 65k / month as per min retirement requirements thats 12 x 65 = 780k less 250k allowance = 530k taxable,, so 0-150k zero, 150-300k @ 5% = 7.5k and the remainder 230k @ 10% so a total of 30.5k tax to be paid. Just doing the math apologiies if this was done before.
  13. I get unlimited data (2Mb/sec) for 90 baht a month with AIS. Does me.
  14. No, it was from the company that is paying me the pension - which happens to be a bank (ex-employee). This was accepted - at least I got my visa so i assume all was well
  15. I just showed a certificate showing I had a private (company) pension for over 65k THB a month - worked for me.
  16. And in a beautfiul example of joined-up seamless integration on behalf of the IMO, the user ID and password for the TM30 site is DIFFERENT from the one on the TM47 site - well of course! Can't go making things too simple can we?
  17. Were the tourists lost because their boat floated away? Now THAT'S careless - they should have been tethered
  18. Not pretending to be the expert here but I registered our addess on the TM30 website https://tm30.immigration.go.th/tm30/#/external/ifa (used my wifes (out-of-date) ID card and the house "blue book") then did an "ifnorm" to say I will be there for the next 99 days - and when I search for it I can find it. There is an 'export" function so you can print it out. Strangely enough I didn't add any current visa information which seems wrong but the form let me add my entry. Maybe it's incomplete.
  19. it's the one month to stay you get automatically when you arrive for EU citizens and others - are you not in that category?
