  1. If anyone saw on omen in that, must definitely be of Thai descent....
  2. It's best not to get out of your house in Thailand, never know what might happen....
  3. Better chance of a long time relationship, and a lot better chance of being appreciated....
  4. At that time in the morning. Still walking alone. The taxi driver certainly just thought of giving her the attention that she seemed to be unsuccessfully looking for. This will now give him a bad impression of German girls...😊 But more seriously, this lady is ready to lose all that time to make a complaint, about an attempt, unwanted, in Thailand... Perhaps she should simply have learnt from the event, and hopefully the taxi driver as well...
  5. Well, these Russians must feel right at home here then....
  6. Disagree. Nothing in there is moral and ethical. Legal I would presume. The renter having entered into a contract, means that he will get rent for the stated period. Some civilized countries even allow someone to sub-rent at their own cost, so that the renter does not end up losing money. And the most civilized renters will reimburse a deposit, after receiving rent from another tenant. Oh yes, I forgot, TIT
  7. Doing business, typically has little to do with being moral. This renter will certainly not lose any money in your change in plans. But he leans on the side of 'doing business'.
  8. Sounds like something that North America, and Europe, could learn from....
  9. Oh well, this Brit is still at the base of the learning curve, so it appears....
  10. Inserting the word 'Hypocrisy' in this debate will not get you off the hook. There are people and cultures who believe in taking care of the environment. We believe in it because we HOPE that something good will come out of recycling. And if organizations are ready to pay for types of waste, there might be a reason don't you think. And if so many governments in this world are ready to implement rules for waste disposal, there might be a reason, don't you think. So much so, that in some countries, if households go beyond their allotted volume of thrash, they are billed accordingly. So that they end up following the rules, and separate recyclables from waste. It is so in my country. And I had a friend from Belgium, even more stringent rules there. How is garbage disposed in Europe? On average, each European produces about 4.8 tonnes of waste annually. About 39% of it is recycled. Recycling rates vary considerably by country. Eight countries achieved recycling rates of 50% or higher, while another eight countries recycled less than 20% of their municipal waste. Unsorted waste is to be placed in white bags. This waste is incinerated and converted into steam (energy). ... Paper and cardboard are to be placed in yellow bags (dry, clean and folded). ... Blue bags are used for empty plastic bottles and flasks, metal packaging and drinking cartons. Might very well be that many people are influenced by the lack of civil behaviors here in this country. Garbage is thrown everywhere, plastic bags, bottles, paper.... I was helping a girl who would collect these residuals, and was able to buy milk for her baby. And of course, the father was nowhere to be found, except perhaps seen throwing away his own plastic and papers. Everybody I see, and I mean everybody, puts waste and recyclables in the same bags. I do care about people having to feed their babies. Now this word of yours, 'hypocrisy', will not suffice in preventing me from sorting all my waste. I am on the 'hope' side... Particularly when I see organizations spending time and money in collecting plastics in the sea. I am on their side...
  11. Oh, I misunderstood your acronym. EOS. I do not know what it means. So I deleted what I wrote back
  12. 16 minutes ago, PJ71 said: So many negative horrible comments. They've followed their dream, something that is apparent many have not, majority just come here to drink themselves to death with the devils alcohol - horrible drug! Good luck to them... This guy PJ just looked at this situation in a positive way, as it might have been positive after all. But then you find a way to turn it in a negative way.... Of course anyone starting a comment with a 'how do you know', can turn anything in any which way that he chooses.
  13. Thanks EZZRA, exactly my thoughts. On so many people, the tattoos completely hide the individuals themselves. We cannot see them any more, all we see are the ugly tattoos. And then wondering what could have motivated anyone to hide their personality, their traits, their demeanor, their beautiful skin of face. All of that is just gone..... All is left are mutilated people....
  14. One heck of a sophism you managed to provide for us all.
  15. It won’t cover illegal or reckless behaviour. So despite being one of the most reported incidents in which foreigners need health insurance, if you were driving a motorbike without a proper license, helmet, vehicle insurance, registration, or under the influence while driving, or driving recklessly/speeding, you won’t be covered. Sounds reasonable. So reasonable, that these limitations should apply also to all Thai drivers. And should also include all these accidents caused by drivers on the phone, and just not looking ahead....
  16. Try avoiding MSG altogether. All sources. Including sauces that contain 'spices'. Maggi is one of the main source of MSG. If your headache, or migraine as you call it, goes away, then you are simply allergic to MSG...
  17. No, not always the foreigners fault. But nearly always the fault of someone driving TOO FAST. Now, which of these two vehicles, in your opinion, might have been traveling too fast???
  18. Just about never. All the food in Thailand is poisoned with refined sugar. And, as I was forgetting, cheap oil over-heated. Over-heating cooking oil can cause toxic fumes and free radicals — hazardous substances that can damage cells. And Thai people all use the cheapest oils possible, no olive oil or coconut oil. Too expensive they will claim. Better poison the customer. If you care for your health, avoid Thai food.
  19. While some sources refer to chronic gambling as an addiction, but people gamble because they LIKE IT. So at that age, perhaps giving him in return something that he really does not like. And give him the choice of one or the other... More difficult once he reaches age 18. But cutting access to a family house is always a possibility. And then when he has enough resources, it will all be his own decisions, regarding how he will choose to gratify himself with what he likes. Good luck
  20. Well, I drive on these roads, Chao Fa West, East, and the road coming from Rawai. So there is no need for any bias here to suggest what happened. Just about all these younger guys, (girls do the same as I can see), training in Muay Thai or boxing gyms, they want to show their strength by renting big motorbikes, as loud as they can get them, and drive as if their abilities shield them from possible accidents. Speed, they just need that for their show of strength. From what I can see... Including quite a few accidents involving big motorbikes on these streets. Way too many compared to the ratio of smaller bikes, driving a tad bit too fast as well, but who make it to their destination... Sometimes I catch myself hoping that they just end up crashing somewhere, not involving other drivers. And now I catch myself hoping that my hope was not involved in this guy's demise.... But the culture here has more power than any of my hopes... So Kap dee dee as they say here....
  21. Well, everything that is part of the culture on the roads is OK. Obviously. But these Unicycles huh....
  22. The difficulty resides in requiring an overall of the whole culture in Thailand.
