  1. That really is 'between a rock and a hard place' in every sense of the proverb.
  2. As someone directly involved in the accident you are unable to determine fault. This is why insurance companies say NEVER admit liability. That's for police/courts/insurance to sort. You are factually incapable of determining that and more than likely under shock, even in minor accidents.
  3. No, they just think seatbelts are an unnecessary nuisance that should be silenced. Even now after years I still have problems getting Thai friends to belt up.
  4. What many don't realize is that seatbelts' second most important task is to keep a car's occupants INSIDE the car in a smash up. Survival rates of those ejected in a crash are essentially zero. It's why it pays to wear a belt especially in a bus as well - those windows are big enough to get thrown through when broken, even if structural damage and speed is not too excessive such as during a rollover or side-on impact. The idea that you can stop yourself from hitting the dashboard with your arms is like saying you can jump out of a third story building and land safely on your hands. You can't. Disabling safety devices and alarms is about as stupid as humans get.
  5. Those who did were frequently crippled and became a burden for their nearest and dearest as well as society for the rest of their usually shortened lives.
  6. Yeah, they're all on the menu instead ...
  7. That is precisely what we're all here to learn and this tax fiasco is just another lesson in the course book. Keep smiling 555
  8. Do they not even read AN? Do they exist in a news free world? What is wrong with these people? They just walk straight into the net, one bunch after another, one day after another. Weird. It's obviously coordinated and I bet the back room boys'll soon be served up with this many leads to follow. These dudes can be grateful they got caught before Singapore. Jesus. They must be real thick.
  9. Including the grass smugglers of Koh Samui .... what is wrong with these people? They just walk straight into the net, one bunch after another, one day after another. Weird.
  10. Abused either way. Sickening. And heart breaking.
  11. At least the Swiss violence has some sort of creativity about it. The Brits're usually just drunken yobs (of all ages) scrapping on Walking Street or getting their heads kicked in by the bouncers. No real class or originality at all.
  12. Heard about it recently didn't realize it was out. Definitely not to be missed by me anyway. Seen a making of recently I think.
  13. When I think what happened in UK 'care' homes for children over decades I'd rather not consider those poor little kids' fates in a Thai institution.
  14. Maybe. Or perhaps influential parents were involved? Just as likely.
  15. That's true, but then again I used to smoke fags in the school bogs at age 11. My point though was ref the bullying. That the victim was moved and relocated not the perp. Staggering.
  16. Am I alone in having difficulty getting my mind around this?
  17. One of these days one of these slabs is gonna collapse onto a busload of people. And even that won't change anything.
  18. Certainly they're in for some interesting experiences to yarn about with the grandkids ...
  19. Somebody with so little self control in such a minor incident in which noone was hurt and nothing damaged has absolutely no business behind the wheel of a car. Getting cut off is a normal part of everyday driving. Especially in Thailand.
  20. The real question the public needs to know is did they put in false claims for repairs not carried out that were unnecessary? Or did they claim for work that was necessary but not carried out?
  21. Aah the good ol' days. Sick buffalos are so much more romantic. They conjure up bucolic village scenes of the family wiping it down with damp straw to cool it by gaslight, with a small fire of buffalo turds smoking in the corner to fend off the mozzies. The stricken family looking on like the adoration of the maji, mama moaning, monks chanting ....
