  1. if want to see an absolutely great beach , go to wineglass bay in Tasmania . So sad to see the beaches in Thailand getting worst . Went to krabi last Christmas and I was amazed how it has go so dirty from the previous Christmas I went there.

    +1... Stunning beach Wineglass

Similar subject.. We have a waterfall near our house, gets very busy with locals on holidays and weekends. The state of the place after people have left is ridiculous. My wife and I have on a couple of occasions tried to pick up as much as we can but it is an endless task. The locals don't seem to mind spending their free time playing amongst all their sh*t !!! Oh well, you can only do what you can do...

  2. Chris we all I am sure value your contribution but we are awaiting MacWalen to respond to my very simple question(s)

He hasn't responded fully to anyones questions, what makes you think he will respond to yours ??

Then again, I think he is done with this thread now, too busy on the other thread about work permits.

Which he has just now managed to turn around into the original plan of advertising the 'school'..

Can't be doing much business if he spends all his time on TV :)

  3. You can give them all the advice you want, but until the education system is changed and their parents have a clue as to what goes on outside their village, nothing will get better.

I have a MIL that taught for 25+ years, she knows her rubber and palm plantations but little else to be honest. These are the people charged with arming the future generations for life !!!

She even told me that if she had a left handed student, she would force them to use their right hand.. Because she couldn't be expected to teach a child that can't write properly ????

  4. OP?

Maybe his meeting didn't go as planned....................sad.png

Or they're still tucked up in bed together after he bought him some beers and invited him home.........................coffee1.gif

Edit: You could try calling him.................tongue.png

    wink.png No I'm back ! I didn't offer a beer and didn't go to see him directly.

So, I went to police station, I reported the stolen phone, i had to fill a form but they didn't care (and knew already that I won't find it anyway). Then I showed them the pictures, locations of the guy and told them that he is supposed to work less than 200m from here.

They brought me to the detective room. I met two detectives there who were really nice and were amused about the evidences I have with me.

Then i asked them if I should go to meet the guy and ask him to give me back my phone or if i should go with them.

They told me that I should'nt show myself there, and "it can be really dangerous if they see you with police trying to make trouble to their friends". He said that there're a lot of shisha shops in this area and I could have serious problem if they see me there !

Then he told me that I should go around khaosan and wait for his call and he will go there with other policemen.

3 of my thai friends went there with some police officer and tried to find them (guys on the pictures).

4-5 hours later, they found two suspects, and told me they got my phone back and asked me to go back to police station to get my phone.

I then gave 1000 baht to police, thanks them and came back home.

My Thai friends told me they were scared also because all of them were looking angry at them in the streetand they will avoid the place for about 1 month.

So I think I was right to worry about a possible revenge if I go back there again, so for those told me "grab your balls, be a man, go there with baseball bat and friends and kick his <deleted> fcace" , I think it's really easy to consider yourself a tough guy behind your computer's screen. If I was a tourist yeah I (maybe) would have gone there by myself to get my phone back. but im not, i will go back to this area again and I dont want to have problem.

I think I did the right way, the thief (s) don't know who I am , and it's better this way !

Of course they know who you are.... Silly

Just like you found pics of them on your phone accounts, they probably looked at all your pics :)

    Wear a hat n shades...

  5. I attended Walen to get a student visa and to learn Thai I spent about 8 months going to school for 6-8 hours a week. Did I learn to speak Thai? Nit noy.

I understand you are now helping farangs learn how to teach English so they can qualify to teach and get a work visa. Some questions.

    1) Are there Walen schools that are now teaching English to Thais? What cities?

    2) How much do the Thai's pay to learn English?

    3) What's the student age? Kids or adults?

    4) After I learn how to teach English (the Walen way!), Walen will guarentee me a job?

    TIA!

    1. We teach English in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket and Samui and we are getting more and more students, we also teach online and that segment of our business is also growing. We will be starting next month working on our Hua Hin school, and shortly after on schools in Lampang and Korat.

    2. You can check prices on www.thaiwalen.com but the best offer is 24,960 baht for 120 lessons, with some breaks it takes about a year to finish this course.

    3. Mostly teenagers and adults but we are also looking at teaching children.

    4. I do not guarantee a job but there is a good chance of getting one. One will certainly be able to get a lot of private lessons as people like our teaching system very much.

No.4 You can't teach private lesson legally if the work permit is only applicable to Walen schools.

So really no different to an Ed visa scheme !!

Great business man but not very transparent in his dealings...

  6. I personally don't have a problem with the fact that you are not a native English speaker.

Your business credentials are in no doubt for me either. My wife runs a small English school at our house and we had over 60 students within 1 month of opening. There is a market there for sure.

Now I know its late and you have had a few beers (I'm in France so its still early and I'm on tea tonight), however, I really wish you would just explain the package completely. Its all very well advertising on here, you know you are going to get it from all angles but please just answer peoples questions.

Why would I pay 50k for this package when I can pay less than half that amount for an Ed Visa including the same amount of 'lessons' ?

  7. But you still haven't told us what we get for 50k !!

    Only 100 hrs of lessons...

What about this WORK PERMIT ???

Explain please in concise form, not a ramble..

    Still waiting.. Thanks

120 hrs of training, work permit as a Walen teacher. Work depending on the available lessons and ability. Concise enough?

    Getting there...

If working for Walen, obviously this would be after the training course. So what are the provisions put in place whilst studying ?? Plus what are the pre requisites for the course ?

    Thanks

  8. Funny how he won't answer questions about the work permit. I guess he's preying on those who don't realise a work permit only allows you to work in a specific company at a specific address.

The guy is clearly someone I would never choose to do business with. Economical with the truth to say the least.

Give the guy a break, I've only asked him 3 times about the work permit :)

Might as well get an Ed visa deal with another school for less than half that price..

I don't see any 'teacher training' involved here at all...

  9. Atyclb, yes, students will learn faster. Guaranteed.

So, can you give us that list I asked for ??

Maybe you missed my post above !!

It is a comprehensive ALS 120 lesson course which includes theory and practice lessons. After this course you will teach faster and also students will learn faster. It is a life long benefit. Some people here do not know what they are talking about or are belittling me, or try to be overly academic. What we teach works very very well and is worth the money. If someone has a budget to open a school they may even be able to start their own business. I am very confident in our ALS course. Perhaps the best investment you will ever make if you want to make teaching your career. You will be learning from one of the best paid teachers in Thailand. If you get good at ALS you will make very good money.

So 120hrs of lessons for 50k, is that correct ??

What about the work permit ?? What can I do with it and for who exactly ?
