  1. prune juice dude - or Senakot
  2. You are Nepalese - or at least you learned it from them.
  3. I said what about that implies elsewhere than the USA - - many people are working towards chaos - including a prez candidate...
  4. All of this with no consideration of whether or not you were Mr. Right.,,?
  5. I have a friend who likes a routine... he is unhappy on Tuesday & Thursday from noon to 7 p.m and all day Sunday...
  6. Thanks - that thought entered my mind but even with a cooperative vet, just making the decision would be difficult and would haunt me for a long time. The body fails, the heart beats on - - same for us aging folks, I guess.
  7. the OP presented an upside down chart - how can that be taken as deeper or serious?
  8. the trauma of being raised by a Jewish mother...
  9. I am more concerned with the possibility of a fast and immediate crash if the USA dissolves into crazy conflict where the banks are forced to shutter... and the SS stops sending out checks...
  10. She is probably 15 now... sometimes she can walk, often she cannot.. her neck is a bit twisted... no apparent immediate pain but surely not comfortable either... very sad. This has been her condition for a year now... her bottom has turned a black/brown color. My wife mentioned getting an operation for her, but that will be painful and whatever she has, she will not get younger. She is a village/home dog and does not like to go to the vet or even go in the car. I have not seen her in 3 months but last time the vet gave me some vitamins which actually seemed to help. Is there anything we can do? I know the vet will not euthanise her... if I were back in the USA I would think it was about time. What to do? What to do?
  11. Inflation? Sure. Your was just more sudden...
  12. my wife's village... and my driveway.... go Baan nork
  13. In 1980 I was there for a couple of days and had enough of it then. I was back a couple of times 25 years ago but left after a day each time. That said around 2000, a friend invited us to his Marriot Timeshare in the north of the island - we had a very lovely vacation there.... But there is always the rest of Thailand outside the tourist areas and that is lovely every day.
  14. well, no bjs for him there... Yes, they did act extreme, but what did he do to provoke that? And I know Thai people can have a temper. - - especially when they are unduly provoked... Is there a video of the first part of the encounter...
  15. I just watched the video and he did not look in any danger - - though those ladies were really angry - - I have been here a long time and I have never seen anyone that angry in a market where people are trying to sell things and make a living... and I did not see what preceded the event.. if he blew them up would that have been more serious? Did he refuse to put out his cigarette or toss it at them? From the bit I read he prompted the dispute and acted horribly...
  16. did I miss part of the story? No sa-moke... really? You have been here long enough to know what that means in Thai...
  17. “A girl phoned me the other day and said, ‘Come on over. There’s nobody home.’ I went over. Nobody was home.” Rodney D.
  18. And no thought or consideration for what he has to offer her? what might she want? of course, you don't care what she wants, which is probably why both of you are alone... two way street dude and many of us put our wives first - - simply because we want them to be happy -
  19. Not as long as you put Safety First - first... it is not Thai style to worry about it...
  20. Absolutely nothing compared to Bkk... I had a freind here who complained bitterly about the traffic which for him meant getting stopped for a couple of minutes at a red light...
  21. Sure, but what do they believe? If you have been here a while this should be very easy to accomplish... As Celsius says, don't book through a shop. If there is someone who likes you, they might circumvent the shop, but many are loyal to the shop, a quality that many seem to appreciate when in their favor.
  22. Me too... a quiet area with not much doing, lots of birds and views out over the rice fields...
  23. I never heard of anyone paying by the hour - we pay 500 baht for a day and our very experienced maid helps with everything. You may not find a Thai person but I think most of this type of worker in your area is Thai Yai from Burma and they mostly do good work. When I was in town, I paid 500 for the day and the maid would do a great job and finish in 4 hours. That was 8 years ago but I bet she would love the same job back...
