Should Uber be allowed to operate in Bangkok and other heavy traffic areas?
1FinickyOne replied to moon47's topic in Bangkok
The real problem is the traffic- I haven't been there for many years but last time, there was a standstill on Sathorn Tai - I had to get out of the taxi and walk... I tipped well, but still the driver was stuck there for a long long time... be it a taxi, Uber whatever - - I can understand not wanting to go into certain areas... which is not a solution for you... it just is. -
Ducks?

bring the bottle to bkk hospital and ask them... or ask at the clinic that they tell you the brand and not to remove labels...

I was told that but if not so, they are certainly run that way.. as noted, I could not deposit into my Bangkok bank passbook from another branch w/o paying a fee... I have used Kasi in 2 different cities and got a new book for each one... and each one has been able to provide a letter in less than an hour. No problem. In my small city days w/Bangkok Bank - I was waiting in the queue and the security guard came over and asked for my passbook. I handed it to him thinking maybe he was going to usher me over to a manager. He just looked at the balance and handed it back to me. He was curious how much was in my account. The purpose of the story is that would never happen in your USA bank - - not sure how long you have been here but you will find things to be different in many ways that do not make sense to you. Jai yen yen and go with the flow - -

It shouldn't be but I believe it is this way because each branch is independently owned. Many years ago, after living in Bkk and moving upcountry, I was told that I would be charged a fee to deposit money into my own account - at another branch... I am with Kasikorn now and for many many years. when I call my bank in USA for a money transfer, at night here, the money is in my account at Kasi the next day... the exchange rate is reasonable. They have always been helpful w/other things as well.

Dieting is tough and usually not effective against time etc... I remember one time, starving myself and taking off 3 lbs in a month... then I had 1 hamburger and gained back 2 lbs... it becomes discouraging. One skinny friend once told me that he knew it was possible to lose weight because he saw holocaust pictures and they were all skinny. But we have food available everywhere and supermarkets and money... It is always annoying when skinny guys are so critical and have stories of having a big dinner and gaining 2 lbs and then dieting to take it off... which is different than dieting for 30 years and occasionally losing hope... and it is not as bad being overweight as some people imagine. Skinny people are often unhealthy and fat people can be healthy... I have a very skinny friend my age, he eats the same as I do, but he looks terrible. His face is drawn and very old looking... -

There is a strong link between living and having dementia... for most of us, it is just a matter of time -

Yo Kramer, if it were only that easy.... you likely know nothing of body chemistry and genetics... if reducing junk food is your answer, a person w/weight issues will likely still put on weight. I have a friend who is one of the kindest and smartest fellows I know. He is obese. Both of his parents are obese. His kids are obese. And yet, he spends his life trying to help others, he has the fortitude and compassion to do this... and even with all the problems he has had, I hope he takes comfort in the great work he has done... I know of the abuses that he has suffered through mean people... people who don't know the struggles of his life but only judge him by his weight. -

Yo - big Star at what? I don't eat chips and never have - just not into it. And trust me, you have never paid a dime of my healthcare - - and never will. -

This is quite an interesting subject - - I would say that I can feel, being over 70, that the quality of life is and will continue to decrease each year... That said, I lost 14 kgs last year and physically I do feel better in that my legs are not as heavy, my balance is better and my mental state of mind is more cheerful. But the real question is about quality vs quantity of life - and this is going to be individual.. losing weight is not easy and 95% of people who do so will eventually gain it back. We seem to be programmed to do so... Most everything packaged or processed has a ton of added sugars, so there is much to forgo and then there is the maybe or maybe not that you will be successful. If living long is the only goal, then you would go to the extreme of doing whatever you think it takes... I think for many of us, I might prefer fewer years beyond 80 in order to enjoy a meal today... and given how few can keep the weight off - maybe some moderate eating of foods I enjoy, even fruits have sugar content, the fact that it might take an extreme diet to lose more weight - - well, for me, I don't think it is worth it... I am taking it a meal at a time as most meals of fresh unprocessed foods are enjoyable, if the prep work is not. -

I don't personally have a sugar addiction and there are monk fruit sugars which though expensive surely do the trick... one of many problems is that they say that sugar is more addictive than opioids. Another problem is that it is in near everything in the supermarket - - further exacerbated by deceptive labelling manufacturers... and then, not all people are the same - - I was skinny as a rail before I was 30 - my eating habits were formed then, and anything was ok and as much as you want... then I started putting on weight - just a little - 2 lbs a year... but 25 years later, which goes by all too quickly, and you are +50 lbs... and it does not come off easy... -

Kramer - - you are totally clueless, and what you are suggesting is cruel and despicably mean... I would much rather be in a room of fat people that viciously cruel people...
