  1. True. US National Parks do not charge non-citizens higher fees. They also DO NOT charge non-residents higher fees. Everyone pays the same except for senior citizens aged 62 and over. They pay a reduced rate regardless of where you are from, what nationality you have, or where you live. You only have to be aged 62 or over.
  2. A very unfortunate accident for this man. I feel sorry for his children who are now without their father and his parents. RIP.
  3. I still fly Thai when I have to domestically. However, this topic was about international flights. Would I fly Thai Internationally again? Maybe. Usually the routing isn't as convenient and the airfare is higher than their competitors.
  4. Thai Airways definitely has some financial issues that have been a problem for quite some time. Safety issues have also been called into question and I believe some countries have not allowed them to land in their country.
  5. It's been my experience that Thai Airways tends to give better service to non-Thais over the years when I flew Thai. I saw a lot of that back in the 80's and 90's. Also heard a number of Thais complain about this as well. Didn't matter if it was business or economy class. Now I tend to stay away from Thai Airways as their fares are always more expensive than their competitors and the routing is never that convenient.
  6. Thaksin has been out of the country for approximately 15 years. Lets hope he can spend another 15 years outside Thailand.
  7. "no more coup after the May 14 general election" Other than the May 14 part, you know how many times I have heard this over the last 40 years? I just don't see this happening if past history is anything to go on.
  8. I've never really been a big fan of Phuket. I did like my visits back in the early 80's. Not so much lately (the 90's) and haven't been there in 20 years. I do enjoy a lot of other places in the south though.
  9. In the scenario the OP outlined, I would definitely carry/take my passport with me. I'd also bring photocopies of the passport and relevant pages just in case.
  10. I think "Big Joke" will definitely be down there probing quite a few from sun up to well past sun down.
  11. It sounds like it might be a fun thing to do.
  12. They have two Brazilians, and one player from Argentina. There is one luk krung player but he is listed as Thai nationality. I have no idea what kind of fan base or crowds that attend their matches. The stadium they play at only hold about 5800.
  13. Not a naked woman. Really nothing more than a quick flash of the boobies. Yet the Thai authorities really got their knickers in a knot over this.
  14. Get involved in doing activities that you used to do in your home country. If those aren't available look for new interests that you might want to try. There are a lot of expat groups that meet on a variety of different things. Most, but not all, also have a number of Thais involved too.
  15. Yes, it is a good way to meet a lot of people fairly fast.
  16. It still does! They are still going strong all over the world and in Thailand as well.
  17. I think it would be a good idea for the Thai government to extend the 45 day visa exempt program. It is good for tourism and brings a lot of foreign money into the country.
  18. There have actually been a lot of films partially shot in Phuket, Phang Nga, and Krabi over the years. I really liked both Good Morning Vietnam and The Killing Fields.
  19. It's easier to just get a taxi. As others have said, make sure the driver uses the meter. At that time of day it might be quicker to use the airport link and MRT, or airport link and the BTS.
  20. Oh, I don't know. Somebody who thinks they can gain something from it.
  21. Well, at least with each other.
  22. Never had a farang wife so I really can't comment from personal experience. Met my Thai wife when she was a graduate student at the university we were both studying at. Married for many years until she passed away much to early from cancer.
  23. Very unlikely he will ever go to prison. Wealthy people like him usually can avoid prison terms.
  24. A very sad story that happens all too often in Thailand. I wish this man and his family all the best.
