  1. News Headline: Raptor hunting season officially begins in Prachuap Khiri Khan
  2. A sad day for Thailand to sit on the fence and not make a decision to support the people of Ukraine. Some day, when Thailand is encroached upon, I hope that they will be just as understanding when they are not supported. I assume that they just didn't want to upset mother Russia and big brother China.
  3. That's pretty much what I do. I vary between a #4, #5, and #6 on top and then a little lighter on the sides. I also use the two tapers they include for around the ears. I've been using the same set for 21 years. Clean it every so often but have never oiled it.
  4. I don't plan on living full time in my home country or Thailand. Instead I stay in Thailand for 4-5 months over the northern hemisphere winter and the remaining amount in my home country. My house is paid off in my home country and my condo and two houses in Thailand are also both paid off.
  5. I bought my own set of clippers many years ago. It came with a lot of attachments for cutting your hair to a certain length plus a left and right ear taper. The longest is 25mm and there are attachments with fixed length increments all the way down to zero. If I had longer hair then I would definitely go to a local barber. Since I keep my hair fairly short I can just do this once a month or so.
  6. That's really sad Brit Man. I would think that you would still have a lot more to look forward to. My friend is the same age as you. Next Saturday he's embarking on a two month bicycle tour from Hanoi to Singapore. I would have gone too but, well.......I'm still working full time. What's that saying? "Get busy living, or get busy dying"
  7. Khun LA, you are being too kind. Half of the year it is extremely unhealthy. The other half of the year it is just bad. It's one of the reasons the Thai traffic police have such high incidents of COPD despite wearing masks and this was pre-Covid.
  8. Except the street food if on a busy street get a lot of air particulate matter floating around it. Alcohol is excessively overpriced. Driving is terrible in Bangkok. The cost of the car or truck in Thailand is very expensive. Rainy season is bad with all the flooding and particularly bad this year. Running in Bangkok is very difficult. It's hot and humid and running on the streets is not a good idea. I lived over in the Dusit area. Not that good of a place for running. Then there is the air pollution.
  9. Whoever came up with these numbers is way off. Either that or they work for peanuts. They also didn't take into account the air pollution in Bangkok or the chemicals found in the food that are prepared with too much salt and MSG. There's a lot more to living in a city besides how cheap one can go.
  10. I've known a number of people that have PR and a number that have gone on to get Thai Citizenship. There are quite a few people that do this.
  11. I have been bitten by a dog just once in Thailand and that was back in 1993 as I was out for my morning run. The odd thing was that the small puppy was on a leash connected to the owner. It had jumped up as I ran by but I didn't think anything of it. I didn't notice the bite until I looked down later and there was a little trickle of blood running down the back of my leg starting right behind my knee and above my calf. I went to the hospital and went through the whole regimen that was required. The initial cleaning of the wound was a lot more painful than the actual dog bite!
  12. That must have been an interesting route considering that Hay Yai is inland quite a few kilometers.
  13. I wouldn't buy a Chevy truck or car here or in the US. They are not well made vehicles.
  14. Most of the Malaysian tourists are guys coming up for the weekend. Very few venture north of Hat Yai. I think most are here taking dancing lessons. Primarily learning the horizontal Ramwong! 555
  15. If he is just coming for very short stays of 3-4 days at a time over weekends and holidays there really shouldn't be too much of a problem.
  16. In 40 years coming in and out of the Kingdom I have never been asked to show any amount of money in baht or dollars. I've also never been asked to produce an onward ticket. Many of those years I was living and working in Bangkok so different criteria with that type of visa. Visa Exempt, never been asked for anything.
  17. Great! Hope it works out well for them. You'll definitely need to click on the link to find out more about a couple of planned events for September. Other than that, nothing.
  18. Mark was a great guy and gone to soon at age 64. Not sure if he was a member of ASEAN Now/Thaivisa or not. He had lived in Pattaya for many years.
  19. Correct! A few years ago we had to pay 500 baht to exit the country. It was always a problem for tourists that weren't expecting this last minute cash only charge. Then they would have to leave the check in and go get 500 baht from one of the banks at the airport for each member they are traveling with.
  20. With an exit tax and an entrance tax the fees are getting higher and higher.
  21. The first Thai woman also did well to complete the course in her age group.
  22. Now is the time for the Thai people to raise up and make their voices heard one or the other. Not saying it will change the outcome of anything but they need to become involved.
  23. There's a group that runs at Nichada Thani which isn't far from Pakkret but I think it is all female. They might know of some groups that are open to male and females. HHH in Thailand is fun!
