  1. How does a satellite camera measure the diameter of fine dust particles in the air near the earth's surface and determine the weight of the particles measuring 2.5 micrometres per cubic metre of air I am not suggesting that it is impossible but I am genuinely interested in knowing how this is done.
  2. I'm in Thailand for a few weeks, got a cough with thick phlegm, went to the neighbourhood 7-eleven but they were out of stock of Leopard Brand Brown Mixture. Went to a nearby Pharmacy and they had Brown Mixture Leopard Brand, contains no codeine or other opioid. Bought a small bottle ad will see if it helps me.
  3. Medicines containing codeine are not illegal in Thailand.
  4. Frankly, I am not sure what KhunLA was talking about, transliteration, transcription or romanisation, which is the reason why put "transliteration", which KhunLA used, between quotation marks.
  5. Hold it right there. The proposal, as I understand it, suggests that I would be able to travel from Thailand to Vietnam, for example, without a visa, but I have seen nothing to indicate that 1. Vietnam would not put a stamp, of any size, in my passport saying something like "Entry permitted without visa; 2. I would be allowed to travel back to Thailand without a visa for Thailand. Never underestimate the ingenuity of officialdom of any county.
  6. 1. Are you sure that having learnt Thai is a prerequisite for being allowed to reply to a post on this forum? 2. There appear to be many different "transliteration" systems around for the Thai language. What system did you use when you wrote "passa" and what system when you wrote "P̣hās̄ʹā"? 3. Are you sure that posts or parts of posts witten in "transliterated" Thai using any of the many "transliteration" systems are allowed on AseanNow outside the Thai Language Forum?
  7. I am strongly opposed to learning passa Thai, because I know of no such thing. I do, however, support the idea of learning the Thai language for anyone who takes an interest in it, or any other langage, for that matter, except perhaps Esperanto. ("passa" is third person singular present tense of the Italian verb "passare" [English: pass])
  8. From the topic title: "are we getting worse less humane" My opinion: No (irrespective of what "worse less humane" is meant to mean)
  9. Thai Airways Takes Passenger To Court For Complaining About Flight Diversion Thailand has some of the world’s strictest defamation lawsuits, which Thai Airways uses to protect its reputation. Full article: https://simpleflying.com/thai-airways-sue-passenger-flight-diversion-complaint/
  10. Thai Airways Sues Customer For Complaining About Diversion Ben Schlappig 22 hours ago This incident happened on January 28, 2024, and involves Thai Airways flight TG465 from Bangkok (BKK) to Melbourne (MEL). The flight was operated by a roughly five-year-old Airbus A350-900 with the registration code HS-THN. On the morning the flight was supposed to land, visibility in Melbourne wasn’t good. After some time in a holding pattern, the decision was made to divert to Sydney (SYD). The plane spent some time on the ground, and then eventually operated the short flight from Sydney to Melbourne, arriving a bit over four hours late. 11. Because you answered on behalf of the OP I thought you might also know the answer to the follow-up question. So here goes again, my question to the OP, @Chris Daley: Who or what are "the pii"? If, as a poter has suggested, you mean "elder", why did you instead write "pii" in a forum that uses English, not Swahili or Esperanto or any other language.
  12. Thank you, but why does someone who means "elder" write "pii" in a forum that uses English, not Swahili or Esperanto or any other language?
  13. I read something about that, too, the other day and wondered why that should be so. Does the cold adversely affect the proper functioning of the charging station? Does the cold reduce the charging speed (amperes, kilowatts)? I know that when it is very cold, the battery gets warmed up first before the charging starts and this obviously increases the overall time to get it charged, but I don't know about the other factors.
  14. Are heat pumps equipped with hard-to-charge batteries?
  15. Who or what are "the pii"?
  16. I read that, too, and am now waiting for the news of the committee's recommendation and the government's decision to increase the safe level of PM 2.5 to 100 µg/m³. The current Thai limit is 50 µg/m³, I believe, whereas the WHO limit remains at 25 µg/m³.
  17. They are at cross purposes again. One spokesman says the Thai birthrate must increase, another wants to export Thai ova and sperm to bring more foreign exchange into the country. Sit back snd enjoy the comedy.
  18. Thank you for pointing this out; I have never noticed it. Risible.
  19. Male or female, no immigration official will be satisfied with a fotreigner's presentation of the pink card on arrival at an airport or land border checkpoint.
  20. Interesting. Who's going to tell it to the CAAT?
  21. The "pink card" to which you are referring is a Thai ID card in the sense that it is issued by the Thai government. There is the Thai ID card for Thai nationals and the Thai ID card, of pink colour, for non-Thai nationals. Images of both types are shown in the OP.
  22. Disregard the laughing icon. It is meaningless, because it can have too many different meanings when used as a reaction to a post.
  23. This topic is about domestic flight departures. Customs are not involved.
  24. Never expect a regular dictionary or a machine translation to give you a "translation" of an idiom or a proverb. Instead, use a ChatGPT to to give an idiom or proverb with the same meaning in the other language. Alternatively, use a special dictionary for idioms and proverbs if you can find one for the respective languages.
