  1. I was there today and saw that sign. It doesn't explain much to me though. What on earth is a "dry cow situation during the milking break"? I showed this to my wife and she said she doesn't understand what the Thai wording is supposed to mean, either.
  2. The point is that the amount of shares owned does make a difference. As mentioned above, "the EC dismissed a case against a Democrat MP possessing 200 AIS shares on the grounds the number was too low to affect company policy."
  3. It's a practice known as "shrinkflation" - instead of raising the price, they reduce the size of the product. I've noticed a lot of local restaurants, street food stalls etc, doing the same thing.
  4. He claims that he did that. The shares were already transferred, apparently. It's all bogus anyway. As has been pointed out in a number of articles, on March 7, 2007, the Office of the Permanent Secretary notified ITV of the termination of their broadcasting contract and Ultra High-Frequency (UHF) operating agreement. As a result, ITV lost its status as a mass media company. Its shares were also delisted from the Thai stock exchange in 2014 and could no longer be traded. For many years thereafter, in its financial statements, ITV stated it was "a holding company principally engaged in the non-financial business." Then, for some unknown reason that was changed to “television media” in 2022, in what Pita reckons was part of a deliberate attempt to have him disqualified from politics. I must say it does seem strange that a company that had not been involved in broadcasting since 2007 and with no change in its actual status, would suddenly start describing itself as a television media company in 2022.
  5. That wouldn't explain why all the locally-produced brands were also out of stock, though. Also, if such a thing were going on, why would it only affect milk?
  6. As far as I can tell, most of the milk brands you find here are locally produced from dairy cattle. Production volume of milk and milk products in Thailand
  7. The only evidence I was going off, was the article I quoted. You're right, it could be inaccurate. Other articles I've seen (that were written earlier) said that Takeda was intending to apply for approval in Thailand. But since this one was dated more recently, I thought they must have done so.
  8. No, Hua Hin - but my point was that if they accept it, it can't be a mandatory provision. However, as is often pointed out on here, individual IO's (or offices) can come up with additional, non-official requirements - and often do. The bottom line I think though, is that if they've accepted the application and given you an "Under Consideration" stamp, it's pretty much a done deal.
  9. I don't believe that's an official requirement. We've always used my wife's son (my step-son) as a witness. It's never been a problem.
  10. I think you're conflating the two different Dengue vaccines. Your first point about it working better if you've already had Dengue, only applies to the Dengvaxia vaccine. Also, Dengvaxia can actually be dangerous if you haven't had Dengue before as it can make the disease worse when you do get it. The new Takeda TAK-003 vaccine, marketed as QDENGA, does not have the same drawbacks as Dengvaxia - it works well, whether you've previously had Dengue or not and it doesn't carry the risk of enhancing the disease when you get it. It's true that there isn't clinical trial efficacy data for people over 16 but it has been shown to elicit a potent immunological response in older people and has been approved for all individuals aged over 4, in the EU, the UK and other countries. According to the article below about QDENGA, it has been approved for use in Thailand but when I checked at one of the local clinics last week, they said it wasn't yet available for sale anywhere in the country. 11. The fact that he couldn't sell them because trading in the company's shares had been suspended is surely relevant, though.
  12. Well first off, he didn't buy the shares, he inherited them in his father's will. The company had ceased trading in 2007 and its business registration only remained active because it is embroiled in a dispute with the government over unpaid concession fees. Sales of the shares were suspended pending resolution of the dispute. So he was more or less stuck with them. The only thing he could do was transfer them to someone else, which he apparently did.
  13. Language is not mathematics. Language use and the meanings of words do not follow the rules of logic. Also, the meanings of words change over time and words can even end up meaning pretty much the opposite of what they once did. (The word "nice" for example used to mean silly, simple or foolish). It's perhaps not logical that this should happen, but it does.
  14. Of course you can say things without being called racist and anti-semitic. All you have to do is not say racist and anti-semitic things.
  15. Let me just start by saying that I have no problem with transgender people, however that's just not scientifically accurate. There is no gender confirmation currently being performed anywhere that would equip a transgender woman with a uterus and ovaries. In early 2022, it was reported that a New Delhi-based surgeon would soon attempt a uterine transplant in a transgender woman but the surgery has not yet taken place. There has apparently been only one recorded case of such a uterine transplant, in 1931 and it led to the death of the patient, Lily Elbe (who was portrayed by Eddie Redmayne in the movie "Danish Girl").
  16. Dengue is spread by mosquitoes not humans. So the only travel ban that would help would be to ban mosquitoes from traveling. Which I'm pretty sure is impossible.
  17. Trump is the subject of this thread, the title of which is, "Trump criticizes end of White House cocaine probe." So mentioning him would seem entirely apropos.
  18. Yes, that's precisely my point - we can't just leap to some totally unsupported conclusion that it must have been one particular person.
  19. According to North Carolina Republican congressman Madison Cawthorn, even leading members of the Republican Party do "key bumps" of cocaine at parties - and there are multiple reports of similar antics involving Matt Gaetz. So for all we know, it could just as easily have been a visiting Republican politician who left it there? Merriam-Webster defines ‘key bump’ after Madison Cawthorn’s bizarre orgy claims Rep. Matt Gaetz Snorted Cocaine With Escort Who Had ‘No Show’ Gov’t Job
  20. And I suppose that when he suffered this alleged heart attack, he also hit himself over the head multiple times? Because, according to the info on one of the other threads on this matter: https://aseannow.com/topic/1300490-third-suspect-in-murder-of-german-businessman-nabbed-in-kanchanaburi/
  21. As predicted - just over 50 votes shy.
  22. Yes, you're right - on further checking that is just a projection based on stated voting intentions.
  23. I've always just put, "To whom it may concern." No address needed, in my experience (and it's always been accepted).
  24. No-one was voted in as PM today apparently. It's being reported on live news feeds that Pita fell about 50 votes short.
  25. 35 cases in five years and no deaths - time to start quaking in your boots, guys!
