As of 8.30pm, red-shirt leaders claimed 60,000 people had converged there.
My wife was watching Thai tv news last night, if what they were showing was current, i would estimate less than 5,000 people.
I was at Rajamangkala yesterday around 5:30pm (I go running there...), at that time maybe about 5,000 red shirts
I saw about 20 buses parked in streets in the area

He said all Thais should urge Suthep to stop and return to work in Parliament instead of leading street protests.
Well now, Mr. Panthongtae Shinawatra, you have obviously missed this from Nov 12:
"Suthep Thaugsuban yesterday announced his resignation as MP..."
So unless you advocate a general election, Suthep can't go back to work at Parliament...

Check out Chalerm's picture, how intimidating... in Hawaii they call this look "stink eye". "You give me stink eye, I fight you!"
On the other hand, Suthep rather looks as if he is crooning at karaoke: "Love me tender..."

What are the qualifications to be on this commission? And who makes the appointments?

It's just that the BiB is branching out. They have already cornered the domestic criminal market long time ago and are now expanding...

In this case, those who seem certain to face consequences are Parliament President Somsak Kiatsuranont, Parliament Vice President Nikom Wairatpanij, House secretary-general Suwichag Nakwatcharachai, all 312 MPs and senators who proposed the amendment bill, and Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who submitted it to His Majesty for endorsement.
It is rumored that the government is scrambling to create more inactive posts...maybe they will rush the approval process again (short attention span disorder)

Congratulations to the Thai police. Your inaction, laziness and complicity is slowly starting to attract a bit of headlines. No doubt, exactly what you wanted. Keep up the good work, or not...

And just how would thaksin be able to sue for libel, when he is a fugitive ?
That was my question at the time as well.
How can a fugitive sue someone while outside the country he was convicted in?
Mai khao jai!
Ja naa, after he calmed down, he realized that he put his foot in his mouth and announced he will not press charges. What a windbag

Everyone opposed can always petition the World Bank to reject the loan and instigate the road that was followed by the loan bill and how unconstitutional it was.
It is not Thailand that makes the ultimate decision on the loan, just make the World Bank aware of the actual level of corruption here and they will give it consideration.
There are many other countries that deserve that money a hell of a lot more than Thailand.
Is it the World Bank that will be providing this money?
Because In 2009 there was an article saying they themselves were running out of money?
Never fear, new money gets printed all the time

overthrowing the powers of the legislative, administrative and judicial branches
phew, he is using the big words...
to clarify: he means overthrowing the power of those folk who sit around digging their noses and bending over for the puppet master

This guy needs a better agent and a financial advisor <deleted> !!! I mean 200 ฿ when the minimum daily is 300฿ and standard red shirt daily is 400฿.
IMHO, he was paid exactly what he was worth

i am pretty sure that the foreign bank will be glad to learn that the main culprit, a police officer, is actually walking free
and ready to skim again...
It doesn't say he's walking free and ready to skim again.
He has been dismissed from the Tourist Police Force.
Now, being under arrest, he awaits disciplinary action, whatever that is.
disciplinary action:
write 100 times: I am not supposed to get caught!

After the DSI has finished investigating the taxi queue jumping, they should move on to investigate the same crime at numerous 7/11 check-outs around the country!

“There’s another popular kind of scam in which you receive a call from a total stranger claiming to be some kind of government officer telling you to go immediately to an ATM and transfer money to a certain account, because you have to pay a fine of some kind.
“Do not make any transfer! This scam works because people panic when they received this kind of call.
Oh no bozo, this scam works because of the deeply ingrained, unquestioning obedience to authority so prevalent in Thai culture.
Nice attitude for people trying to help you.
You are right...felt grumpy this morning, has passed now...

If I was charged with that:
committing serious crime for refusal to recognize the legitimate government
then my defense would be this:
honestly, your honor, I searched everywhere, but I just couldn't find one.

He told Chaturon that if he was attacked by whistles he would blow one back because anybody who blows a whistle at another is an unethical person.
Ohh Plod, you have now shown that you are both unethical and unoriginal. Be creative, man, think out of the box, don't be a copycat: use a tuba!

I beg to differ; to substantially reduce corruption in Thailand you need to change Thai culture at it's roots. It's about lack of values, ignorance, unquestioning obedience of authority, and no interest.
So, to change a population's attitude about corruption you need to change:
the social environment - family values, ethics, morals;
the education system - understanding of processes (government, social, economical), critical questioning, realizing/caring about the issue
the "holy cow" - get rid of the idea of untouchables, be it institutions, positions or persons, all should be transparent and accountable
I think it is a complex task and will take some generations
