  1. The 97% of scientists who want to get (BlackRock, Rockefeller) funding, you mean? Here's how it works; a scientist wants funding for say, studying the foraging habits of squirrels: Funding denied. Changes the name of the thesis: Study of the foraging habits of squirrels -due to climate change: Funding granted.
  2. Yes, but we're bracing ourselves for the severity of these soaring temperatures!!!!! (And soaring BS headlines). Again.
  3. Sadly true. Two of my Thai staff have died from it within the last 15 years, at relatively young ages also.
  4. Yes, surprisingly powerful also. I once had to remove a (baby) monitor from my house. I put on a pair of rigger's gloves to pick it up, and got a nice thrash across my forearm that was a bit startling. A big bar-steward like the OP would do a bit of damage I imagine.
  5. It's not a good idea to be holding a lot of money in banks right now, imo.
  6. He fell or was pushed. Doesn't mention if he was alone or with other people.
  7. Digital "money" is just tokens given to you by a bank. Numbers on a screen. These tokens can be deducted at source at negative interest rate, or given a time limit to spend. Or linked to your social credit score. It's basically slavery and the antithesis of personal wealth or financial freedom. Shove it.
  8. It's healthy (imo) to socialize with other people from your own culture and share interests, make friends, play sports, exchange info, etc. Not sure I'd personally want to join up to any dedicated "club" to do this right now, but maybe when I retire in a couple of years..
  9. There seems to be a quite precipitous decline in sperm counts worldwide, as much as 50% lower than 40-50 years ago, according to many sources. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32168194/ Factors may / may not including diet, obesity, environmental pollutants, wifi, etc. Seems to be Governments paying lip-service to population decline, but doing nothing (or actually propagating it) to stem this issue.
  10. Mandating workforce "diversity" over actual talent and ability might also be a concern. https://boeing.mediaroom.com/2022-04-18-Boeing-CEO-Message-on-Equity,-Diversity-Inclusion-Report
  11. Utter and complete tosh. The PR Dept of the RTP is the only one doing any 'work' seemingly.
  12. Great. "Diversity" in areas like air traffic control, aircraft maintenance, etc..
  13. Yep. It's sometimes hard to fathom just how nuts some Thais are about their (fake) lineage and ancestry. We have a few amongst our staff at work. Completely brainwashed from an early age. 🤪
  14. Just another paid schill. Like being a lawyer in itself isn't <deleted> horrible enough.
  15. The "Sex on the Beach" cocktail buckets sold everywhere obviously planted a seed here.
  16. I'm sure the obligatory wai from the driver to the Japanese guy will happen for the TAT press photographers. A couple of days later, your salt-of-the-earth cabbie will return a full wallet of money / lost Rolex to it's ditzy tourist owner. Hoorah!
  17. Obsession with the vapid and inane? They aren't allowed to talk about anything else.
  18. There are a lot of unmarked crossroads East of Rayong, especially roads going to the beach. Caution required.. Usual suspects: SUV Emperors + delivery van morons = carnage ensuing.
  19. Always happy to give Songkran the swerve, and visit UK / friends overseas during April. My 12yo son doesn't even know what Songkran looks like, tbh.
  20. Spot on. Probably the worst selection of 'beers' in all of Asia. If you want to buy alcohol outside of the ridiculous time zones here, just use your local mom n pop shop. Simples.
  21. There are a few beaches on the East coast from Rayong that are infamous for 'riptides', including Mae Rumphung, and Koh Chang. People drown there every year, unfortunately. Has anyone heard the same about Koh Samet?
  22. They knew he had it as they probably sold it to him in the first place. Nice to know this dangerous drugs czar / kingpin is off the streets though, eh?
  23. Ah well, he died doing something he loved. (And didn't take anyone with him). "An honourable death", as the Japanese say.
