  1. Wow, sorry to hear this. Broken ribs are the worst.. Hoping you recover quickly, BritMan.
  2. Thailand just paying lip-service to the Globalists they sold out to, imo. Actual implementation of anything here is another story.
  3. Yep, let's you know who is backing this Govt. Digital "money" that can only be spent near to your home; has an expiry date, and can only be used at mega-corporation outlets. Your "carbon credits" assessed as you spend, etc. It's basically using your supposed wealth and assets against you.
  4. His former company is in deep doo-doo financially, right now. Owing creditors a lot of money.
  5. Yes, I'm not sure there may also be a 'quota' to approve how many people allowed into the US also. My wife went for an interview this Feb, and got approved, whilst some other Thai people who my wife thought matched all criteria were rejected, seemingly arbitrarily during he same appointment time.
  6. Cheers, Mike. Just around the corner (Eastwards) from Mae Rim Phim, there is also the lovely Ao Kai bay, and a little grouping of bars and restaurants. Occasional surfing / skim boarding tournaments and music concerts bring in the younger (Thai) set on weekends. Anyway, not to derail the thread, some recommendations for the OP on Samet: Sai Kaew Beach Resort. Ao Prao Resort. Vongdeuan Resort. Samet Pavillion. All within the OP's price range, and I've had good experience staying at these places w/ family.
  7. That would be Mae Rumphung beach, and the view is of the lovely IRPC facility. ???? Mae Rim Phim is a bit further along the coast, and rather pretty good.
  8. Problem: Cops under fire and public scrutiny for massive corruption and in-fighting.. Solution: Just deflect criticism over the borders. Those degenerate foreigners again. ????
  9. Seasonal 'flu.. Why doesn't the good doctor prescribe healthy eating habits, Vitamin D, exercise, etc. to boost kid's natural immune systems? ???? Just another schill trying to create panic over nothing to enrich his industry.
  10. Yeah, always liked the Kacha resort. The bungalows on the beach are excellent for the price. The OP should note (as pointed out by other posters) that the island gets a tremendous amount of rainfall from now 'til December, and sometimes roads get closed due to mudslides, fallen trees, etc.
  11. Seems like just a ruse to introduce digital currency to the Thai population. Similarly to the Chinese system, it is used to control people and limit movement, protest, etc.
  12. Erm, it was a Mitsu Triton pickup.. Being driven at high speed by a complete moron. Ah well, at least the local soi dogs and cats will enjoy the clean-up.
  13. It doesn't. But obviously Thailand has signed some deal / trade agreement with the "United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) " who are pushing this b0ll0cks.
  14. Yes, there are some good local producers at relatively cheap prices. Forget about famous 'brands' and source local if possible.
  15. Pretty funny to see the Keystone Cops different factions and shady business interests all fighting amongst themselves for power and position.. It would be even better to see the mickey mouse military doing the same, but they're all nicely provided for already, thank you very much. Courtesy of the tax-payer.
  16. So basically, nerdy "gaming" is now a sport.? The levels of fitness involved must be challenging.
  17. A lot of small businesses forced to close down during Covid restrictions popped up again as weed shops. It's not like the robber baron Junta "government" gave them any compensation, is it?
  18. Neeson seems permanently stuck in "vigilante" mode since the "Taken" franchise. Protecting his family from the bad guys, etc., etc. *yawn*
  19. I don't mind the smell of fish sauce. Combined frying with basil it can launch a fit of sneezing though. The smell of pla ra on the other hand is horrendous to these nostrils. I've banned it in the house, forcing the missus to covertly sneak it and eat it in a spare room, like she's doing drugs or something. ????
  20. I'm sure this won't affect the status or income of the massive immigrant (legal or otherwise) workforce here.
  21. If you live anywhere near Pattaya, the Cafe Des Amis version is excellent.
  22. Another billionaire with the personal carbon footprint of Belgium instructing the plebs to downsize.. I suppose "Virgin Galactic" is an EV ?
