Australian Arrested at Bangkok Airport Over Pattaya Murder

Police have arrested a 46-year-old Australian man at Suvarnabhumi Airport after he attempted to flee Thailand, in connection with the disappearance and murder of a 17-year-old Thai girl whose body was found on 27 June 2026, inside a suitcase abandoned beside railway tracks in Pattaya.

The suspect, identified publicly by Thai police as Mr. Simon Peter Carman, was detained while attempting to buy a ticket to return to Australia. He has denied any involvement in the killing and maintains he is innocent despite what police describe as strong CCTV evidence. He currently faces a charge of abducting a minor under the age of 18 for indecent purposes.

The arrest followed a joint investigation by Pattaya City Police and Nong Prue Police, who traced the suspect’s movements using CCTV footage collected along his suspected escape route.

According to investigators, the victim, Miss T, 17, from Kalasin province, disappeared after entering a condominium on Jomtien Second Road with Carman at 3.34am on June 25. CCTV footage showed the pair holding hands as they entered the building and went to Room 20 on the 15th floor. Police say the teenager was never seen leaving the condominium alive.

Further CCTV footage recorded at around 9.34pm the same day allegedly showed Carman dragging a large black suitcase from the building. He loaded it onto a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle bearing Prachuap Khiri Khan registration. Police later used CCTV tracking him riding along Sukhumvit Road towards Soi Chaiyapruk 2 and then onto a road running parallel to the railway tracks.

Investigators said the suspect disappeared from CCTV coverage for more than nine minutes before returning to the condominium on the same motorcycle without the suitcase. Police believe the victim’s body was disposed of during that period.

A body concealed inside a black suitcase was later discovered beside railway tracks behind Pattaya Floating Market in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri. Police from Pattaya and Nong Prue coordinated efforts under senior officers, analysing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify and locate the suspect.

Officers tracked Carman to Suvarnabhumi Airport, where he was arrested before boarding a flight. Authorities are continuing to question him while forensic specialists gather additional evidence to support the case. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to examine forensic evidence and complete the case file for legal proceedings.

In Pattaya, the guard may have had some suspicion if he turned up alone!

As others have said that happens all the time. Except this time it resulted allegedly in a murder. I think there will be a civil query to see if there was any negligence and if there was any documented security standards that were given a big meh.

She was underage

No, she wasn't - if you're referring to the age for sexual consent.

From the update posted by Georgealbert

Daily News reported that the Pattaya Provincial Court issued an arrest warrant, before the body was found, charging Mr Carman with abducting a minor under the age of 18 from the custody of her parents or guardian for indecent purposes.

It sure sounds like she was underage.

I was a little excited I found this character, a little Saturday morn sleuthing and I watched the couple where he features, and he seriously seems 'not quite right' - so yeah, de institutionalisation, free and easy travel, probably an NDIS recipient (regular sickness payments). Sad. We should not be sending our retarded people to other countries. The pommy food looks ok tho. Hope this retards family pays the poor girls family all they have.

It was on the Australian news tonight. Apparently he is now stating it was self defence because she had a knife and trying to rob him plus he admits he accidentally killed her in a scuffle and also admits that he did put her body in the bag. This guy is scum.

She is a 17 year old and half this guys weight and height and this sh..t makes up a story, "it was self defence".

I hope he gets the death sentence in Thailand and a massive fine for the girls family back home where she most likely supported them. May she RIP.

My theory is that this was an 'I am under 18' extortion attempt that turned violent. I have heard of cases where the woman becomes hysterical, destroys the room, and demands a large sum of money. Regardless, that gives him absolutely no excuse for killing her

What is the relevance of her being under 18 in the context of what's been reported here?

Also, what's with a tattooed 17yo working in the game? Did he know her age? Too dumb to check ID?

Australian Admits Killing Teen in Pattaya

image.png

Australian man has admitted killing a 17-year-old Thai girl at his condominium in Pattaya, claiming he acted in self-defence during a dispute over money. On 27 June, police confirmed that 46-year-old Simon Peter Carman confessed after being confronted with CCTV footage showing him transporting the victim’s body in a suitcase before abandoning it beside a railway line approximately 4.2 kilometres from his condominium in Jomtien.

The case follows the discovery of the body of 17-year-old Thanchanok, from Kalasin province, concealed inside a suitcase. According to investigators, the victim died inside the suspect’s 15th-floor condominium on Jomtien Second Road before her body was initially hidden in the bathroom. Carman then loaded the suitcase onto a motorcycle and disposed of it near the railway line before returning to his condominium, collecting his belongings and travelling to Suvarnabhumi Airport in an apparent attempt to leave Thailand. Police arrested him at the airport after tracking his movements through CCTV footage.

During questioning, conducted in the presence of his lawyer and an interpreter, Carman admitted causing the teenager’s death but insisted he had not intended to kill her. He told investigators that at around 03.00 on 25 June he met the victim at Jomtien Beach and invited her to his rented condominium. He claimed that after receiving a telephone call, she said she could no longer stay with him, explaining that she was menstruating, and asked for 500 baht as compensation for wasted time. Carman alleged that she then demanded more money, leading to a heated argument.

The suspect further claimed that the victim produced a knife and held it to his neck, resulting in a struggle. He said he restrained her by gripping her knife hand with his left hand while using his right hand to hold her by the neck until she became motionless. Realising she had died, he said he concealed the body in a suitcase, later disposing of it beside the railway line. He apologised to the victim’s family and maintained that his actions were solely in self-defence.

Matichon reported that police initially secured an arrest warrant on charges of taking a minor aged under 18 from the care of her parents or guardian for indecent purposes. After further investigation and the collection of evidence, including fingerprinting, investigators formally charged Carman with murder, abducting a minor aged between 15 and 18 for indecent purposes, and concealing, moving or destroying a body. He was taken to Pattaya Provincial Court on 27 June and remanded in custody, while the investigation continues.

This guy has the weakest lies. If it played out like he said, why did the poor girl have a bloodied and bruised face? It also sounds like he's trying to claim no boom boom happened, but then how did she end up naked? I also wanna know why he had a large suitcase when it looks like he only owns 3 singlets.
