Thai Man Assaulted by Tourist on Pattaya Beach

A 29-year-old Thai delivery rider was assaulted by a foreign tourist, reported by witnesses to be Russian, on Pattaya beach in the early hours of 4 May 2026 after politely warning him not to smoke cannabis in a public area. The incident, which occurred around 2:00 AM along the beachfront, was captured on video and widely shared on social media. The victim, Mr Kittiphong Sa-adchandrai, sustained injuries during the confrontation, prompting public concern.

Mr Kittiphong said he had been relaxing and eating with friends at a beachside table when a nearby foreign tourist began smoking cannabis, causing a strong odour to spread. He approached the man courteously and advised that smoking cannabis in a public area was inappropriate and against Thai law and local beach regulations. Despite an attempt by the tourist’s Thai girlfriend to calm the situation, the man became agitated.

As Mr Kittiphong turned to return to his table, the tourist allegedly attacked him from behind, triggering a scuffle. The suspect reportedly claimed to be a “boxer” during the confrontation and challenged others, stating he could act as he wished. The victim added that another group of Thai diners had earlier warned the same individual and were also assaulted in a similar manner.

Pattaya municipal officers arrived quickly to bring the situation under control. However, the foreign tourist continued provocative behaviour, walking around the area and making obscene gestures towards the victims and officials. Authorities instructed both parties to separate and ordered the tourist to return to his accommodation to prevent further escalation.

The incident has sparked widespread discussion online, with some social media users calling for stricter enforcement of public conduct rules and a review of tourism policies. Questions have also been raised about the lack of immediate charges against the suspect at the scene. No serious injuries were reported, and the situation was eventually contained.

Daily News reported that authorities are expected to review CCTV footage and witness statements as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident. Further legal action may depend on the outcome of the inquiry and the formal complaints filed by those involved.

No excuse for assaulting anybody, be it a foreigner, a local or no matter what argument.

But on the other hand why did the food delivery chap, go beyond his line of duty, open his mouth and start giving a lecture to some drunk foreigner on a beach ?

Because it's his country and his country's laws and culture that's being disrespected.

This is a growing problem in today's civilized world, where bad behaviour isn't called out. For example, in the UK, people see shoplifters stealing food and say nothing. They see a guy letting his dog crap on the pavement and say nothing. They see someone being an arse on the bus, and look away. Everyone has hooded eyes, glued to their smartphone exercising the "not my problem" attitude. Lack of even the slightest bit of reaction or intervention just emboldens the pricks of this world, like this Russian tosser, who thinks he can do what he likes because he's fundamentally pig ignorant.

getting into a fight is completely stupid.

it's never going to be a 1 on 1 fair fight.

But what about a one on one fair fight, getting in such a fight is not stupid?

I mean at age 12 (or emotional age 12) a fight seems like a good thing but for adults I just don't see it.

Not unreasonable to be aggressive after being punched for making a reasonable non-aggressive request.

The last sidearm I bought here they never mentioned I can't shoot people, and I haven't, and the last brothel I went to they never said I couldn't have sex with the staff...nothing like a bit of victim blaming, know the laws of the country you are visiting especially when it involves drugs. He was politely asked to stop but he chose to ignore the Thai guy because he is a spaced out boxer able to do whatever he wants 😁

I have never read such a stupid statement in all my life as your openng comment. Every adult anywhere in the world knows it is not acceptable to buy a gun and then go around shooting people. I don't know where you are from but if that doesn't apply where you come from the I don't want to go there.

Exactly,.so there is no need for the shop to tell you, same applies for ganga, it's illegal to openly smoke in public and every pothead should be aware of the laws or are you saying offenders should get dispensation because the shop didn't tell them...you could apply your logic to almost anything. Bike shops must tell you not to speed and many other examples. You are basically saying ganga smokers are victims because the shop didn't tell them 😁 😁 😁

That was definitely an 'old man rant'. I recommend going out for some exercise. Anything that forces you to breathe deeply.

Whatever the case, the video shows the delivery driver throwing out first and also attacking the friend of the Russian. He not crying about the hits he got in, so he shouldn't be crying about the hits he took. Fighting in public is against the law. He chose that path. If the Russian threw out first, he'd be at the police station.

The video shows only part of the incident, the details in the OP is the same as in every media report, in Thai and English.

Yet you continue to believe, only you know the real story and are just using it to troll other posters. This is the news section and you posting behaviour is unacceptable. If you don’t believe the news as reported, move on.

Careful what you say about an "old man" as he may just up and shoot you.
