rooster59 Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Gen Aksara: continued violence in deep South won’t obstruct peace talks General Aksara Kerdphol, Thailand’s lead negotiator in peace talks with rebel groups, assures that continued violence in the deep South would not hamper the talks. But, hardcore separatists who resort to violence, drastic military action will be dealt with them along with legal prosecution, he said. Gen Aksara’s comment came two days after multiple bombings in Yaha district of Yala province which killed two officers and injured 27 others on Sept 14. PM: Resolution of southern unrest requires time, nnt 2016-08-30 meeting between Gen Aksara Kerdphol, head of the government’s negotiating team, and members of the separatist group Mara Patani, saying the discussion has not yielded any agreement as insurgent attacks in Thailand’s southernmost region have not been brought to a halt as requested by the government. the southern unrest cannot be tackled through political means but rather the use of development and education. Maybe after the South freezes over?
ChrisY1 Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Peace talks??.....whatever they're talking about, it sure ain't working.....Aksara was definitely not at all happy about being shifted down there....one can almost assume that the violence has escalated....certainly not reduced as has been reported often!
SOUTHERNSTAR Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Rewind a few years to a statement made by the big small guy that there can be no negotiations before the terrorists stop their attacks.
chama Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Negotiate with who? Terrorist? They'll take one bite at a time until they eat the whole pie....a former military man most certainly should have a better plan.
