Gloves off in yet another Taxi vs Uber Pattaya fistfight!

PATTAYA: -- Everyone has forgotten which round it is - there has been so much trouble between taxi drivers and Uber in Pattaya.

But on this occasion someone who stepped in to try and stop a fight ended up making it worse.

In the Blue (shirt) Corner was the taxi driver and in the White was Uber.

They started going for it because the taxi driver said he was picking up a paying client - the Uber guy claimed he was just picking up a mate.

Then the big guy in the Purple corner took over. It was fists, knees and elbows after that with some sound effects thrown in for good measure.

Thai Rath said that the action came from the "Meung Ru Yang - Pattaya" page on Facebook and that it had occurred somewhere in North Pattaya on Sunday.

The woman providing commentary intimated there had been a collision leading up to the initial fight.

This is reminiscent of the Luddite movement in Britain during the early 19th century

It's still there. The socialist-controlled Transport for London Authority has withdrawn Uber's licence with effect from the end of this month, although they have the right of appeal.

Yes, Eff1n2ret. The effect in London I read will mean a £10 ride in an Uber cab, will go up to £30 if TfL does get its way!
For me here in Pattaya, a 3.6km ride from home to work costs me just ฿100- using Uber and although I have only used them when it's been raining, ฿100- is what I give the motorcycle taxi driver too.

uber is amazing and I use it all the time. Bangkok taxis by meter are typically cheaper than uber, so uber is so convenient that I use it a lot here anyway. outside bangkok, uber is SO much cheaper and way better service.

I asked a tax in pattaya for a trip from soi 2 to sky gallery and he said 200 baht. i called and uber and the same trip was 93 baht.

Think it was in or near  Makro car park north pattaya.

There was a massive gathering of Taxi drivers in the North bus terminal around

5:30 yesterday,  heated arguments going on.

Good luck to Uber drivers.

A fair price form fair people.

Down with the Mafia Taxi scum of pattaya :bah:

Would be good if Uber also added a tip feature at the completion of the ride. I'd happily tip my uber drivers an extra 10 baht for most trips. had nothing but pleasant experiences so far.

You can. There is an option to select a percentage for a tip on your account which gets added on to the approximate fare when you book. At least on my account there is.

Tsk tsk. The Hon. Mayor of London said it's all to do with the immoral Uber not bothering to check and/or register the background of all it's drivers; ignoring those with sexual crime records.

Got to keep the ladies safe - Hail Sadiq. He who never lies and is never wrong.

I don't want to tip pre-trip though.
