Nice deflection, well yeh, but I don't think so as we are all pretty much anonymous here..Folk can slag off but actually be the same as the topic subject.....Emicons do come in handy to say a thousand words..

And those people speaking bad about shirtless farang probably make their own money while being naked 

 

Even in BKK i see farang doing it, well it is bloody hot here after all and i guess those tourists got the impression there are no laws (even unwritten ones) at all in Thailand...Just look at the streets and i can understand their thoughts.

 

Even Thai men (don't know if they're hi-so but they drive brand new Camry) walk around shirtless in the moobaan. The Thai boys also do it after and during playing soccer.

 

I don't do it though.

 

If you want to get highly respected you should wear a black poloshirt....it opens many doors you didn't know were there.

Err no flip flops do not make the sound the wearer does by scraping their foot as opposed to lifting it when walking. I wear flip flops too as do a lot of people who do not scrape their foot. It's pure laziness.

Abuse for a verbal challenge, yes; especially given the usual 16 18 20 stone or more of these 'hunks'. What I do, if there's an ugly, overhanging pod or hideous tattoos on 25% of his body, is to make an obvious glare, almost like a double-take, at the offending item/s . . . even turning and pointing, as if asking my wife, 'do you know that guy?' The smell is one thing, buts its more the fact that if you sit on someones couch and sweat then the stink remains after the visitor has long gone. At least a shirt acts as a barrier.

Farang trash that too often almost make us ashamed to be of the same colour. Pathetic poser, outside or inside, and no doubt convinced that the Big C girl will have the hots for him.

I think the more important question is: "Why do you care so much what other people do, no less care about how they choose to dress?"  or "Why are so many Westerners obsessed with these puritanical values regarding dress?"  
And I don't want to hear that it's Thai cultural values.  Up until the 1940s standard Thai dress was shirtless for men and women.  My wife's mother and other women in Thai villages went shirtless up into the 1960s until the government put their foot down regarding a dress code that was forced on the populace in the 1940s.  And I routinely see Thai men without shirts on both in the city and in rural areas.  The general public really don't care.  So it's not Thai culture; it's Western puritanicalism.  And it was those Western puritanical values that the upper-crust of Thai society via government mandate that was forced on the general populace in the 40s. That was not the choice of the average citizen.  

Around a beach area in the tropics -- seriously?    "But they're not on the beach!"  But they are in a beach town and to me, that's close enough.  Have you every been to a resort town in Mexico?  This is what people on vacation do.  Take their shirts off and let their hair down.  
The folks who consistently get bent out of shape about this really need to find a  hobby other than getting outraged about other folks choice of dress while they are on vacation or out simply having a relaxing time.
Like the the shirtless vacationers - it's best to chill.

Up until a few years back tourists walking around Phuket Town could be fined B200 for walking around shirtless- I can live with that. There's a time and a place for it and the center of town is not it, especially as that part of the island is not particularly beach holiday touristy.

 

I also object to seeing shirtless people in supermarkets- its unhygienic at the very least. 

 

Furthermore should there be an age limit for budgie smugglers and going topless on the beach? Some of the leathery sights I see make me reach for the eye bleach!

In my humble opinion your dress sense is nonsense. In all hot climates it is 100% normal for people to walk out in shorts and T shirts and I'm not talking beachwear.

Why be uncomfortable in temperatures that are normally always in the 90's

Isn't it always the ones that owe a duty to the general public to remain completely clothed at all times.

It's the heat Pilotman, it's the heat. So don't blame them. Are they supposed to suffer the heat because you don't like the look of their bodies?

Are they supposed to have a 6 pack ab? They don't go to gym you know. They drink beer all day long to cool down. Please look the other way if you don't like their beer belly. I don't like Trump blond hair and Kim chubby face, what do I do? Complain on Thaivisa  forum?
