Welcome mr Prayuth, nice to have you here....we'll sell you a little bit more in the future....now we are preparing for Porto Rico and Las Vegas blablabla...

Did he have to come over to hear that the USA will sell Thailand more in the future?? so rude....

Amazing - both the rudeness and the lecture. It would appear that this shit hot business tycoon has missed the most important aspect of leadership; the art of delegation.  Hitler had his Generals; Napoleon his Marshals, Jesus his disciples. Perhaps this is modern day leadership.... to be SEEN to be doing it; problem being that they are so busy running around trying to be everywhere that nothing actually gets done; of course Trump is not alone in this, the UK has a prime example as well, let us hope that PM Prayuth sees through this charade and takes the lesson home. Thai intellect, listen respectfully, smile sweetly, miss nothing.

Trump wasted no time in pressing for more sales of US goods to Thailand.

. . . like Jack Daniels, John Deere tractors, Jim Beam, Virginia tobacco, Wild Turkey, Durex . . . oops, sorry, they're English, Sherman tanks, Tenneco subs, Dodge motors . . . . you get the picture, donecha Chan?

And, looking at imports, Trump spoke warmly of Thailand, 'being a great country to trade with' . . .  they make products and different things'. That's what put the biggest smile on the PM's face; in fact, it's a wonder he didn't piss himself laughing.

trade imbalance roots in buying power imbalance... Thailand compare to the US has much less buying power... the Jobs are less payed so the products naturaly are cheaper here and to sell to the US... american have plenty of buying power and consumes whatever Thais sell them cheap on reverse their wages are high that makes US products very expensive for low payed thais... so once the expensive produced US product reaches Thailand it is heavy taxed... on reverse US has lowered or canceled import tax on many products...

United States President Donald Trump told Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha that Thailand should buy more American products to reduce the trade imbalance.

Who does that psychopath Trump think he is?! Trying to dictate to OUR dictator what he should be doing?!

He thinks he is God he thinks that he can tell and do as he wish. This one reason he his where he is as narcissistic psychopath

Trump wasn't interested in Prayuth and just went through the motions.  Prayuth got his 3 minutes of fame, not five.

The real talk, and trade, and politics is done behind the scenes.

The reason coal cropped up in conversation is because it's NK's main export. Oh,, Chan-o-ch we can do it cheaper than NK; and we might throw in some internet spy technology or some cranberry juice.

I actually found Prayuth hilarious, he didn't understand a word that was being said.  Trump acknowledged him and Thailand in about 5 seconds and then went on to detail his plans for the next couple of days visiting victims of the Las Vegas tragedy.  Prayuth thinks he is putting accolades on him and Thailand and is grinning, smiling and nodding in thanks.  It was so funny and even my wife was laughing and said why did he go to look so stupid.

It was really ashaming for mr Prayuth..All he got was a handshake, an order to buy more american stuff and Trump telling about what he would be doing tomorrow.

Prayuth should also have told him what he would be doing tomorrow and the days after.

Never knew Trump was so rude. Now let him come to Thailand for a handshake.

More or less as expected, no?

im  sure the list of foreign leaders ( or representatives) slighted by trump is longer than  that of those garnering some form of respect.

Well what he did to Merkel also was very ashaming.

But he even couldn't drink tea with Prayuth or at least shut up about his agenda for tomollow?

It was only for the picture and to force Thailand to buy more american stuff. And to ask him when there would be elections while of course he even doesn't know who put Prayuth at his place or why he is there.

He did this pure for the show and on top of it started making the americans feel good by talking about his agenda.

As fake as can be...i bet he even can't find Thailand on the worldmap.

Most world leaders would comment that they are pleased that Thailand will be "holding a democratic election soon" :partytime2:. But chances are, this self absorbed leader of the free world didn't even know that Thailand is run by the junta.

I think The Donald has just redefined "fake news".

Thailand needs to buy more material from the US as supporting the economy of America, indirectly supports my retirement in LOS.

Rubbish, all the US needs to do to support your retirement is print more dollars.

There's today's wealth in Thailand, for some, that can be sourced back to the United States during the Vietnam War. There was $ 2 Billion of dollars in direct aid,. The cash spending of 27,000 in country military troops and 70.000 R&R visiting troops along the Petchburi strip. The contract spending on support, building, leasing, and operation of a dozen or so military bases, and the United States built most of the major highways and infrastructure to the North, and most of Thailand's today's major airports.

All of mutual interest in those days. Thailand is now more within the sphere China.
