Prayut knows Trump's time is over, regardless of his continuous lies and broken promises to the American people. The stupid handshake gambit is childish. Prayut plays puppy (PM) to Trump's bull dog (POTUS), in the US. It's polite & Thais are very polite guests (unlike farang). Back home Prawit opens a back door on election timing, proving that Prayut is not a dictator whose word is final, but a leader who must listen to his advisers. Which's more than Trump does. As for "looking in his face" you must be new. The Western habits of shaking hands - unhygienic, and staring into another's eyes - very aggressive in all Asian culture, are weird if you've lived here long.
