Single entry Non-B: Singapore, KL, HCMC, or....?

Featured Replies

The pinned "Latest reports of getting a visa in the region:" is getting a bit dated.

Anyone with recent experience of getting a single-entry Non-B in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur or Ho Chi Minh City?

The paperwork isn't an issue, just seeking the one with the friendliest disposition as well as avoiding any busy ones. I think HCMC will be cheaper when it comes to accommodation while waiting and Singapore the most expensive.

Thanks!

I have never applied for anything else than a SETV and METV but I can tell you that the embassy staff in Saigon are the most efficient I have experienced anywhere over the last 20 years or so. Saigon is a great place, cheap and easy to get around. Stay in District 1 and you can walk to the Consular General or take a cab for around $4 return. Submit your documents in the morning and pick up you passport the following afternoon. I just flew over and back with Thai for 5,500 baht return. Just so easy. As I said on a previous post, just inform yourself what you need and go prepared. Singapore and KL are such a drag and expensive.

I have done a fair bit of work in Vietnam and agree that Saigon is really good and that's why I pegged it as cheaper. If the Thai Consular staff is as good with Non-B's as they seem to be with SETV and METV, we may have a winner.

I have flown Thai but use Vietnam Airlines more often as their flight times and frequency give me better options. Recently, I used VietJetAir and was pleasantly surprised.

Looks like I am stuck with using Singapore. Got a copy of the WP3 letter and getting the original and company paperwork over the weekend so should be able to scan and send via their so-called eVisa online application. Anyone used this before? It looks like it speeds up their application review process and pre-approves the actual submission as complete making the actual visa application a 24-hour formality. Made a few unimportant typos when filling the electronic application. For example, if you use up all the allowed character spaces before the address information is incomplete, you cannot edit it! There's also no copy/paste allowed (used Firefox). I hope they don't get all pedantic as I will be leaving Singapore immediately after the visa is supposed to be delivered.

Most people recommend against using Singapore for visa applications. However, I think that is mostly because of experiences some time ago. With the checklists, the system there seems to have changed a lot. I will be interested to see how things go for you.
