Please help me out here.  Is "losing face" really that big a deal...???  What is losing face that it is taken so seriously?  I have learned over the years not to get bent out of shape over what people think.  Do not get me wrong, I enjoy being liked and appreciated but after a certain point I would just as soon tell people who are not happy with me to go and stuff themselves.  But here, this seems different like a major social taboo that could invite revenge with murderous intent.  What is it equivalent to?  Is it like someone kicking your dog, slapping your children, or sleeping with your wife...???  Thanks in advance.
