Uh...better check with Kim Rocket Man who is the threat here bud...:saai:

Don't be too sure that Trump is not the threat.  If they get close to prosecuting him or his family for all the Russia collusion, then he will have to do something big to deflect from that action.  And attacking North Korea would be a real deflection.

But you respect someone who comes from a rich family that got a note from his doctor so that he didn't have to serve in the military and possibly go to Vietnam because he had sore feet!

He is not exactly alone amongst the last 25 years of presidents...not to join the military is he.

Politics should have nothing to do with sports - full stop.

Racial Problems?

That's the bit we like about the Obama Era - all the Racial Healing...:saai:

The pentagon pays sports team bosses millions of dollars to drum up patriotism, but that's a side issue.

Yes, there are racial problems in the US. Among other things, black men get shot dead for no good reason by cops at traffic stops - and the cops get off with a slap on the wrist.

Sportsmen are exercising their right to peaceful protest.  Protests aren't designed to be pleasant to everyone.  The Boston Tea Party wasn't designed to please everyone.

I don't agree with all protests, but I support Americans' right to peaceful protests.  I even support White Supremacists to protest peacefully, even though I abhor their agenda.

NFL is now the least favored Pro Sports Organization according to a new poll this week.. The real problem will be next year when people will not renew their season tickets and turn off the dial to the TV. I am sure if some could get refunds on their season tickets they would request refunds. College football will be the beneficiary of the disgraced NFL.

People keep saying college ball will be more popular although attendance at those games seems to be dwindling too.

"Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones has had it with anthem protests. Just how tired of it is he? Tired enough that Jones has now publicly said that if his team doesn’t respect the flag, they’re not going to play. Jones was asked by Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News, about two Cowboys players who raised their fists at the end of the anthem. Jones said he did not see the raised fists. But then, Jones made a definitive statement about how he wants to see his team to handle the anthem from now on."

It will all sort itself out. The paying customers and the sponsors will have their say. TV ratings are god! The owners then have to make decisions. The players might be asked to stop or get out!!

Excellent move on VPN Pence's part. No support for those who disrespect the flag or the Police.

Actually it was a pre-arranged stunt confirmed by both Trump and the press corp that was told not to bother getting out of the van at the stadium. So taxpayers footed the bill to fly him there for this stunt at something like a quarter of a million dollars. Busy draining the swamp....

Perhaps he just didn't care for overpaid athletes making a mockery out of the National Anthem?

Where was Pence the patriot when:

Trump disrespected a POW

Trump disrespected a gold star family

Trump insinuated that PTSD was a weakness

Trump insulted both men and women of the military by saying rape was inevitable where men and women both serve together

Trump proposed banning transgender soldiers who have risked their lives for the country?

Where was his patriotism when, as head of the transition, he hired Flynn despite being warned that Flynn was a security risk?

Don't worry...poll the same people 6 months from now and many will give a No Opinion answer as they have nearly forgot about the issue.  Many people have the attention span of an infant.

Jones is one man.  There are dozens of other team owners.

Perhaps a 'good stunt' from Trump's hard-core supporters' view.  To the vast majority of Americans, it was ignorance in action.  Pence is standing under a dump truck of shit.  We don't hear much about Pence's problems now, and here's why:

Mueller's team is working from the bottom up - same as investigators into mafia law-breaking.  They're scrutinizing Manafort, Cohen, Pence and some other lower-downs, but they're working their way up to Don Jr, Ivanka, Jared, and Trump Sr.   We must be patient.  My main hope is Mueller's team won't be fired or be compelled to come out with a lukewarm assessment, which chooses not to see all the law-breaking by Pence, Trump and the raft of other Anti-American criminals in the WH.

The NFL and its players have shot their own foot off. Americans were already losing interest in this particular sports product and, now, its decline will become a cliff rather than a gentle slope. The players tried to enforce their views on the NFL's fans and the country and now they have lost.

That's right and Pence was just doing his bit to shine light on the subject of sports and politics.

They don't have any rhyme or reason to co-mingle.  Same as Hollywood 'celebrities' need to keep their gobs shut and focus on their particular jobs.

if the ceremony is only to honor the US flag and military veterans, why is it played at NFL matches?

To nitpick reasons why the national anthem is played is childish and wars on words are not the way to sort out the problems that have started this protest in the first place. There is a problem, it has been pointed out to the administration and has not been acted on except for criticism of those protesting, those that are protected by the first amendment.

IMO, mention of military veterans in instances like this, in an issue regarding the police, is disrespectful in itself.

Views from a non-American.

You are so right. US military and veterans are in no manner being "disrespected".

It is also Pence's right, as a private person, to voice his opinion.

Trump, on the other hand, has possibly violated Constitutional protections by stating that the NFL should fire the protestors.

as a non American i can see that you should not disrespect your flag as i would hate seeing the Union Jack shown disrespect but the police are another matter, they have to earn and keep respect by their own actions the way the RTP do and not by shooting unarmed civilians of whatever race and colour

Currently, the "law and order" in the US is out of control and has been militarised and have lost any respect that they may have previously had due to the murdering and thuggery of not only the "racial minorities" but the citizenry in general. The police are only the targets of hate and loathing because of their violent manner towards all people, and until they stop treating everybody like the enemy and disrespecting people, they will never get any respect. Respect should be EARNED not DEMANDED. Everybody has the right to express their views and these players and anybody else is entitled to kneel in support.

This act has already a meaning but some people will never get it. The action is against the killing of innocent people by the police. The racists make it about the flag.
