The UK.

Which country do you represent?

I believe he’s from Finland,a country that in  their last general election in 2015, produced a vote of 524,000 for the eurosceptic Finn party, compared with the largest party that received 626,000 votes.

Perhaps he can Confirm that Finland is not a nett contributor to the EU.

All though to be fair,I don’t think Finland is in the EU just to receive money from the likes of the U.K.  I think a strong motive is their concern regarding their neighbour Russia,

see his post 59.

Perhaps he thinks, that if the EU play hardball over Brexit, that the U.K. will understandably, save a vast amount of money by withdrawing from NATO.

Yet another foreigner who knows far more about the UK than the people who live and have lived there for decades.

Xenophobic

Its pronounced as if it was written zenophobic, trying to make it easier for you.

Really?

Touchy are you?

You seem quite happy to insult the population of the UK but don't seem to like it if someone criticises you in return.

Thank you very much for trying to improve my education.

However I don't think it needs that much improvement but if it does, I will go to a professional and get the job done properly, rather than a clown on an internet forum.

Every EU country has it's own eurosceptics. The True Finn party had some EU sceptic fractions, but mostly it has been a protest party against political status quo. Like in many other countries. Since the election the party has split due internal conflicts.

Currently Finland is nett contributor. It doesn't bother to us as at the end of the day, we gain much more than we pay. That's the beauty of the collaboration with others.

When it comes to Russia. I think we have to trust our own defence at least for now.

You could have added bigot, racist etc. As that is what the looney left spiel, when they are losing the argument.

Try this one - from the horse's mouth!  http://ec.europa.eu/budget/figures/interactive/index_en.cfm

This is the 2015 net cost of EU membership by country, not per head of population.

And even that chart shows that Finland is nett contributor. We do have much less people than in the UK and we pay, per person more than the poorer folks in UK. That's fair.

We also pay more than many developing EU country. It's all temporary as once those countries become wealthier, it's their time to put more money in than they receive. That's what Finland did.

If you earned more than your next door neighbour would you help to pay his mortgage and utilities bills?

Yes, Finland is a net giver. The trouble is that the UK has been a much bigger one for more than 40 years. This contribution will never decrease - only Thatcher's rebate kept the UK contribution lower than Germany - but there is so much debt now I see that rebate disappearing if we were to stay in!

Nope, but I wouldn't complain paying more for road maintenance, police and fire department services and possible for the military as I would have more to lose.

How about you?

But nobody has a choice, the EU tells us how to spend the money we get back. And instead of inventing scenarios why not just answer the question?

So. What is your answer to the question?

I would not like paying for my neighbours bills! Plus I am not playing your silly games, what about this and what about that.

Good grief - that's really the best you can come up with - insinuating the Russians were behind the brexit vote???

Looks like a fake news site to me

Where did I say so? I was simply answering to a direct question by billd766.

Now that you have brought the Russian connection for influencing the Brexit vote...

I hope our EU keeps the 2 year Brexit timeline. No further extension, no ability to cancel Brexit anymore.

It's time to move on and say goodbye to Britain. It's best for the EU.

I hope my UK keeps the 2 year Brexit timeline with no extensions, the vote was to leave not get extensions, and we should leave ASAP, its time to move on and say goodbye, its best for the UK,

it wasn't fun being in that club. lets find another club where all the members make the rules, not just the most arrogant members, let the EU sink on its own.

UK was the most arrogant member of EU. I guess you want good old times back, when you could rule half of the world with arrogance.

Or on the other hand, you can been by yourselves. Ruled by arrogance of your own Sir's and other aristocrats. It's all up to you now. The lesser people of UK will naturally suffer, but hey.. who cares about them? Not the politicians with their own greedy agendas.

Btw. Is there really a need to wait for the 2 year Brexit period? If UK is going for no-deal, why not to Brexit this week so we all could go back to developing our own nations?

Iceland and Faeroe islands are part of Nordic council already. It gives the members rights to travel between countries without passports etc. Formed in 1952. Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland.

It mabe that the EU is facing further internal problems, with Spaln and their regions. Also after this weekend Austria. These are in addition to growing disquiet from within Italy, The Netherlands, Poland and even France.

So not quite a Union, just ask the Finn party.

I agree there should be a two speed Europe as it would help to give flexibility to member states to run their affairs in a more suitable fashion for themselves. Why not ?

The EFTA is something of an attempt at that .
