Air passengers who are scheduled to fly from Don Mueang airport on Saturday (Oct 14) have been advised to leave at least one and a half hours  for travelling as many spots of Bangkok have been flooded, said Don Mueang airport director Sutheewat Suwanwat.

Wing Commander Sutheewat said the flood prevention system which has been installed around the airport is able to cope with a maximum of 600,000 cubic metres of water per day.  Therefore, there is no problem about flooding at the airport on Saturday.

However, since many roads in Bangkok have been flood, the passengers’ travel time to the airport may be delayed.  Therefore, the passengers are advised to leave at least one and a half hours before the check-in times, he said.

never fear, the RID says not to worry

Now perhaps if you took into account the recent weather conditions you would understand that the amount of rain that fell over a relatively short period of time  overwhelmed the  drainage system thus floods occur. It was not the actions or inaction of the RID. it was the volume of water.

Of course such situations never happen in other countries of course do they, only Thailand. Thailand , the country you  appear to live in  but  have a dislike of as we Thai's and our country are so backward in your eyes.

Now can I ask why you are here as you do seem to hold a very anti Thai stance.

What utter nonsense. Of course other countries or city can be also flooded.
But they are at least dealing professionally with the situation.
I arrived in that night at 4am at Bang Khen station taking a taxi to Lat Phrao. Vibhavadi Road already flooded from the Ratchayothin exit and cars stuck in the water.
There was no closure of the road nor any police or authorities in sight.
How about that? Or opening the elevated tollway for a day so people can at least go around the affected areas?
I continued my journey to Sutthisan and then by bus and motorcycle taxi home.
The first official announcement has come out at 7:30 after all affected roads have been blocked by cars etc.
So next time check the facts...

I would normally give 1.5 hours to get to Don Mueang in good conditions.

In any case a flight out of Suvarnhabhumi is always worth the extra cost in the end.

Yes it's amazing the amount of bitching about Thais and thailand. Because of course there own countries they left to come here are so much better.  Why not just go back to your fantasy land. I think you will find life here is not so bad after all
