WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's reelection campaign raised more than $10.1 million in the third quarter of 2017 and spent $4 million, including $1.1 million on legal fees.

Trump's campaign paid $237,924 to lawyer Alan Futerfas, who is representing Donald Trump Jr. in matters related to the campaign's involvement with Russian interference in the U.S. election.

That payment came in addition to $50,000 paid the previous quarter to the same lawyer. Futerfas has not responded to repeated requests for comment about the payment.

The campaign also paid $30,000 to Williams and Jensen, the law firm where Karina Lynch, who is also representing Trump Jr., works. Lynch did not respond to request for comment about the payment.

During the third quarter, Trump's campaign paid more than $25,000 to his own company for "legal consulting," as well as $800,000 to law firm Jones Day, which provides routine legal assistance to the campaign.

Trump filed for re-election the day he took office - allowing his campaign to continue to raise and spend money while he is in office. Traditionally, presidents have waited two years to officially file for reelection, providing no historic comparisons to his level of fundraising and spending.

His campaign has raised more than $36 million since January.

He has used that money to keep a small campaign staff, to fund campaign rallies and to pay legal fees associated with some of the investigations into his 2016 campaign.

Trump's campaign spent about $4 million in that same time period. In the second quarter of 2017, Trump's re-election campaign raised about $8 million and spent $4.4 million.

Of the donations, $1.2 million consisted of unitemized contributions, meaning money from donors who gave less than $200. Trump frequently touts the level of unitemized donations as proof that voters still support his campaign. He raised about $1.9 million in unitemized contributions during the previous quarter.

Which begs the question; what exactly do those donors of 36 million dollars get in return?

Here we have a 'person' who raises money to pay for his children's legal fees, even though his children were not officially members of the campaign. And, he is a multi-billionaire, or so he claims. And, he claimed that he would fund his own campaign, another lie.

I have said it before and (unfortunately) need to say it again;

Donald Trump is an ever-expanding cloud of toxic waste that defiles everything it touches.

God help us all

They do not care about that. Their mental health is aready at such a low level, so they can contribute to a madmans campaign.

I have a feeling those legal fees will increase over time. LOL

Let´s hope so. Smaller chance for a re-election.

Again! Re-election of Trump??? Can anybody hear how twisted he believes the american people are?

Whether he get's a second term, God help us, depends on NK etc. If there was a war he might on the backs of some demented patriotism. If all is fairly calm I can't see how he would manage it a second time (assuming Dems put up a decent candidate).

Is there a disclaimer on donation site? "Some or all of your contribution may be used to cover legal fees related to possible criminal behavior by the president"? Hard to run if in prison, but hard core fans probably see him as some sort of alt reality Nelson Mandella.....

He could get a 2nd term.  People like Roger Stone are adept at influencing easily-duped and profoundly stupid right-wingers to vote for people like Trump Sr.  I think people like Stone, Atwater, Bannon and Manafort are doing more harm to the US over the years, than any damage Kim can do with nukes.

The first line gave my spirits a much needed lift... then I continued reading, and down they went :cheesy:

Trump will also have the unlimited resources of Putin to help Trump's campaign ... again.

There are a lot of bitter socialist/democrat expats living in Thailand, but I guess the the left doesn't come in any other flavor, except maybe hypocrisy. Get over it, you lost.

It's a see-saw.  Bush Jr won in 2000 due to dirty tricks (not allowing ballots to be counted in FL).  Then Obama won in 2008, and America was on a good track for 8 yrs.   Now it's back to the dark ages with Trump and his harm-America cohorts.   How long will the nightmare with Trump last?  We don't know.   But decency will return - maybe in the form of Michelle Obama or..... some other good person who wants what's best for the USA.  I particularly like Representative Eric Swalwell.  I haven't lost hope.

It will never be Michelle Obama. I find it bizarre that anyone thinks that.
