I live in Pattaya, but I suspect there is little chance of me finding a shortwave radio here.

I checked a few electrical stores in BKK recently but drew a blank.

Does anyone happen to know of any store that sells them? I'm talking about a battery/mains, stand-alone radio, that is specifically designed to receive short wave transmissions - BBC World, VOA etc.

Just place the dish unit outside the window with a view of the sky and you will

get crystal clear reception.

If you are going to be travelling up country, they have cheap ones for sale in Mae Sai/ Tachiliek. Pocket size work well for 3 years. Bt 300.

If you know any one going to Malaysia or Had Yai get them to buy a Pensonic Malaysian made . Better than chinese ones. More channels.

I used one for several years before getting UBC and PSI. Sadly it did become outdated as networks like Radio Australia reduced their services switching over to satelite. BBC and VOA reception was very weak even though we have a "Signposted" VOA transmitter here in Ban Dung. (Many suspicians as to the real purpose of this facility ).
