Bluecat, with all due respect, you are in the womens room, you may just here uncomplimentary things about men. Ok, they may well have had bad experiences with the opposite sex as have most people, but if I say anything criticising men, I am a feminist bitch or frustrated or whatever. What on earth are those men who post absolute hate toward all women (not only farang)? They all jump on the bandwagon and send me hatefilled, obscene private messages. Would you like to see some? have to think there are a lot of sociopaths in Thailand.

Polly, you will never cease to amaze me.

I'm sure there is a lot of, let's say, disappointed farang men in Thailand with relationships with farang women.

But there is also a lot of farang men disappointed by their relationship with Thai women.

Why?

Relationship in between men and women on the long term requires a lot of efforts from both sides, being in farangland or in Thailand.

Less and less people are ready to make the effort, hence the high divorce rate in Europe but catching up fast in Asia,...

But anyway, on your last remark.

They hate you.

Yes, maybe, you remind them of what they left behind and why they left.

But if I was you, I would not take it personally,... :o:D

Sorry to barge in here.

Polly, I know you are unpopular (to put it mildly) with some of the men posters, but I am surprised and disgusted to read you receive hate mail. Is it in this forum, or are you speaking in general terms?

I for one , like to say I enjoy reading your posters, don't agree with all of it, naturally, but it does help to balance out some of the stuff that gets posted.

Polly, if you are receiving hate pm's from members then I suggest you report them to George or Dr PP. I believe such behavior can lead to banning? Dr PP???

Saw a young Thai man wearing one of those small purse type bags with the long string for a strap. Not exactly super feminine but not the most masculine of things either.

. Men can walk around wearing their wives sarongs, put their arms around another man and not even think twice about it (and neither does anyone else). I love the fact that the Thai man has nothing to prove to anyone and is confident in himself.

And just what would John Wayne say about all that? :o

hey liddle lady, is that a gun under your sarong or are you just happy to see me :o:D

Polly, I would suggest you contact any one of the admin on this matter as I'm sure this is a breach of the terms of service.

I quite agree with sbk's inital post and have witnessed that as well :o

I can completely sympathize with all those poor farang men.

I am sure many years ago when they were sick and tired of women demanding some kind of

R E S P E C T they thought..hey let's find a remote country where the chain attatching women to kitchen sink cannot reach. Lets face it, a man can roam the world in the roughest way possible with very few problems. A woman..well...I can tell you from personal experience, cannot roam so freely.

Men are territorial by nature....I'm feeling they would very much like to left alone to get on with paying for women to do as they are told.

I have been in Taiwan for two years and regularly visit Thailand simply because it is an easy place to get to for relaxation. And I'm sorry to say this boys, but the western men I have met and made friends with both here and in thailand have really opened my eyes. Why are the men surprised at our reaction to their behaviour?

Back home 'feminism' or 'the sisterhood' is pretty normal for blokes to deal with. It's just as normal as the 'guys night out', and the playboy mag in the bathroom.

Be realistc when you visit a forum for "women"..this is far more tame than reading cosmo or marie claire to say the least.

I can say honestly that I am also fed up of seeing gross nasty old misogynists drooling over little thai girlies....and then reading stuff from men..who may be perfectly normal guys...that they are annoyed at women commenting on how sick we are of seeing this. Granted..most of us know what goes on here...but that doesn't say we need to shut up about it, especially when some men try to compare a relationship with a thai girl and a western girl...we come from different worlds..

I think every woman needs to be a 'feminist'...by than i dont mean a man basher. I dont think Polly is extreme at all in her views.....I am happy that this woman can tell men what she thinks (maybe some men are not use to this).

and if you think Thai women 'do as their told' then you haven't got a clue

thai women command respect... westerners just try to DEMAND it... there is a difference

I can say honestly that I am also fed up of seeing gross nasty old misogynists drooling over little thai girlies....

I do not always like it either but:

You can see if they are old but how can you see that they are nasty misogynists just by looking at them and because they are with little Thai girlies?

I am happy that this woman can tell men what she thinks (maybe some men are not use to this)

This is the big difference in between men and women. Men normally have a tendency to stop speaking when they have a problem and the women, well, just the reverse.

But believe me, on that aspect,Thai women are just plain the same than farang women.

So probably, it is not the main attraction,... :o

I am always amazed by the pettyness expressed in this forum by different men & women, I have always tried to see the good in everyone & tried to hold the opinion that everyone is entitled to theirs. Sometimes as a moderator on this forum you have to suppress something that people post cause it's offensive/ unecessary but most of the time I don't as I think others are entitled to reply.

Personally I have a lot of friends, male & female, thai & farang, we all treat each other well, respect each others views & opinions & even when we disagree never feel the need to resort to abusing each other. So what if a farang guy prefers thai women or a farang women prefers thai guys, it's all down to the individual in question. I prefer my thai husband to any other man (regardless of nationality) & I don't feel the need to slag off all the others.

Rob, your link is actually quite funny, but read the placard the thai woman is holding, don't you think that most thai women would find that offensive?

chill out, i didn't draw that cartoon, i just posted a link to it...

maybe you should have a look at some more of his work... they might even make YOU laugh

and stop being so uptight

I prefer my thai husband to any other man (regardless of nationality)

You should not even have said Thai, Boo.

It has been said many times on other threads (amongst the noise,...) but lasting relationship is in between TWO people, whatever their nationality, and is based on...whatever the two of them think is best for them and forget about... the noise,...

I think Pattaya mail should employ a cartoonist who had some training at art school. But this paper isn't known for quality, anyway.

Bluecat:

"Men normally have a tendency to stop speaking when they have a problem"

I think we have seen examples of the opposite tendency recently.

Anyway, it is interesting to have a look in this thread to get comments farang woman/Thai man version of relationships, much less of a windup than the other way around it seems. Would be interesting to know if any Thais read here and get their comments.

Speaking, not writing,... :o

Anyone know what happened to Boo? The spice is gone from this thread, I honestly admit that I miss her. What can we do to get her back here? Her views were so unique on this board... The online community needs some balance, without her no one will bring those other unique opinions... I want her back!!! Pleasssssssssse!! :o

The online community needs some balance, without her no one will bring those other unique opinions

Everybody in this forum has a unique opinion.

And being a woman does not make it more unique.

Or does it?

For some people,... :o

You are showing your claws there Bluey!

All taken out cos im a bit tiddly!

Thanks for reminding me stroll, but 3-0, you can understand me can'tyou.?? Can you???

:o

Thank you, I knew you are a decent guy.

I wondered why there were so few posters last night. Must be the final round in football by now. Sorry, I am really ignorant in that respect.

But I do understand, no bad feelings on my part. :D

I am not a mod, by the way, just made a suggestion.

Is this a great thread or what?! Maybe if everyone keeps their cool, it won't get shut down.

BTW, having lived in Thailand for extended periods of time and will soon shift back permanently, I will not ever be cought wearing one of those "paakamaas" Sarongs, what have you. I know some farangs that can wear 'em but not me. Must be a cultural thing but my momma didn't raise no boy to wear a girl's skirt! :o

  • Author

trust me Boonmee, it takes a certain panache (and knot-tying ability :D ) to carry off wearing a paakama. Not every thai guy can get away with it either. My brother-in-law always walks around in a towel. Certainly not an attractive sight. Don't think it would be made any better with the wearing of a paakama. :o

Boo is around, just busy I believe. Poor thing has had to make a big move. Sorry Boo! Hope things work out ok for you and your hubby! When my husband and I first went to the States it was a big change for him. Biggest problem he had was the lack of community feeling. I suspect most Thais find our western uninvolvement with each other hard to handle.

sbk~

One thing I've never been accused of is having "panache". My wife gave up on me wearing a pakaama some time ago. Shorts it is for me...

In terms of lack of community feeling for Thais in the states it depends where and how long they are here. In general they become accustomed fairly quickly whether it's LA or Minnesota. Just about anywhere you go in the states these days there's a Thai Restaurant. Sometimes staffed by Lao - and Thais get their "community" from them.

For the most part, the Thais I've encountered in America don't give a passing thought to our lack of community involvement. It's the times in which we live in good 'ol USA! :o

:D Totally agree - but they are a great escape from reality :D. My mother has these mags regularly couriered and they really do lay into men. The title of an article in this month's Cleo is "Can you train a guy? Sit, stay, bad dog!" :o:D
