All four Thai passports held by fugitive ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra have been revoked by the Foreign Ministry, ministry spokesperson Busadee Santipitaks said Monday evening.

As a result, Yingluck will no longer be able to travel using the Thai passports.

Thai embassies across the world have been advised of the revocation, Busadee added.

Yingluck’s four Thai passports, two general and two diplomatic, were revoked following a police request as part of their pursuit of the former premier.

It is not known if she holds any foreign passports.

Yingluck has been wanted since August 25, when she failed to show up to hear a final ruling regarding her negligence on the rice-pledging scheme.

She was sentenced in absentia a month later to five years in jail.

Yingluck has not been heard of or seen since she fled Thailand.

The deadline for her appeal expired last week. As a result, the case, including the sentence, is considered final.

Why pray tell dose this woman have or even need 4 passports?

2 of each, can't think of a plausible reason why a person need to

use 4 passports, anyway, as no surprise to anyone, i'm sure that

she have couple others arranged and provided to her by big brother..

I am sure she will be able to return to Thailand when circumstances allow it. Doubt she will need to sneak back in.

I think circumstances will allow her return as ashes in an urn.

Actually she probably could sneak back in or might have done so already.  She left easily enough or did she leave at all ?  If she or her brother we sighted in Thailand, would anyone believe it ?

Forget about Yingluck for a moment.  Why doesn't the Foreign Ministry revoke passports of all Thais who jump bail and flee overseas immediately?

A very good question.

Sadly, beyond answer

While I do believe she did the right thing, for some strange reason I can't help thinking "Stable door" and "Horse bolted"

Right thing ?? Do a runner, break bail, and become a fugitive is the right thing to do?

It seems so for billionaires! Guess billionaires think the law is an inconvenience and only applies to the plebs.

People who need uninterrupted travel usually have two passports to cover the period of renewal.  Offshore workers for example.  In Yingluk's case  2 of each type for the same reason.  Nothing wrong with that.

In the context of she being politically harassed intensively, she did the correct thing. There always another day to fight.

Other billionaires not politically challenged, I agree with you.

Politically harassed :violin:

If she was really being harassed there was a hell of a lot more they could have gone after her for.

But there again, you consider her a real politician whereas I don't.

True. Lot of business people have 2. Useful if working in Middle East and have Israeli stamp in one for instance. As well as you fill them up quickly and and always need at least one.

Yes million of voters and myself consider her as a elected politician. I have no regards for non elected generals masquerading as politicians nor politician that don’t have the people mandate and becoming prime minister.

I hope you not thinking of suicide in cell as a lot more hell to pay. You seem to be indoctrinated by junta’s matter of eliminating political enemies.

Eric, can you name one political opponent of the Junta that has committed suicide in a cell?

Yingluck was actually never elected as an individual. She was number 1 on the party list so people voted for the party. Arguably they knew she was the party's likely leadership choice (haha) and so in that sense, yes she was.

But I didn't say otherwise. I don't and still don't consider her a real politician. She has no previous experience and was simply a photogenic pretty and puppet for her brother.

Can you show where she made brilliant parliamentary speeches and debates? Or gave insightful TV interviews? Or speeches? Thank you three times!

Two deaths in the cells and those are political enemies that have dirt on the junta and mysteriously committed suicide before the court hearings. You denied that.

You can think what you want about her but she was an elected politician and the junta is not.

Don’t need to thank me as I wouldn’t be bother to do the work for you. But if you get off your lazy couch & look into her speeches in the Humantarian Conference about Truth in Thailand, speeches in several investment seminars like the one in Tokyo and her White House speeches, you may learn something. She spoke in English. Why don’t you show me speeches that Prayut did in English.

1. Benefit for Asylum

2. She has two other citizenship from two other countries she and her purchased by investment.

It's not exactly a "runner" when you are told to run or go to jail and then meet with an unfortunate "accident" while doing your time.   It's called an ultimatum.

It wasn't just harassment, it was "accidental" death in jail.

There is no law anyway, just the elites telling Prayut what to do.  He does make some of his own decisions though like deploying state security forces to count twerks.

Why on earth is she allowed to have 4 Thai passports. I understand there are diplomatic

passports, and regular passports. That said one would think you would have to turn one

in to get the other. I also understand that some people need two. People who do business

in Israel and Arab countries. Many Arab countries take a dim view of visitors who have

Israel stamps in their passports. Similar to US Customs and Immigration taking a dim view

of people having a Cuban stamp in their passport. (That said on request Cuba will insert and

stamp a blank removable insert, I would guess Israel would do the same)

So I just wonder if any Thai can get multiple convenience passports.
